second half of my Montreal trip, first thing it's so f...g hot here... the images I got of Canada were kind of linked to snow shoes, huskies, underground cafes etc. I am cured... after a famous Restaurant that burned down last week in my neighbourhood, I witnessed a second major fire in the center,.... well the heat means we are looking for cool places ... and yes it's just an excuse to go to recordshops, on a recommendation by Hibou (Lise) I have been to 'FreeSon Rock' a great shop specialized in Prog & Metal,(one of the largest Prog selections I have seen in a while) I bought the last 'Miriodor' record Parade which is fantastic.BTW Miriodor is playing in septermber during the Weekend Progressif (15&16 /09 )a Montreal together with Samlas Mammas Manna, Nathan Mahl, Strawbs IQ and more...

 

so far for the introduction, in one of the record shops I found some sales and bought a couple of records among them a The Roches compilation, I remember when their fisrt record came out in 1979 it was kind of an Ovni.... the 3 Roche sisters coming from a Folk background, but  with a serious Punk feeling and lots of humour. The record was produced by Robert Fripp (who delivers also some Guitar and Frippertronics on their records ). I haven't heard them for ages now and their music sounds  just as fresh as back then, song orientaed (nearly all material is written by the three  sisters) with highly complex vocal arrangements ( just listen to their stunning  arrangement of Haendel's  Hallelujah)  and great lyrics. A absolute must if you like Folk with a "punk" edge.
