Hello prog fans!

Here's a new band added in the archives that will please the fans of "New Prog", http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=3090 - Youthmovies (formerly known as Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies). While not being as alternative sounding as the other bands labelled "New Prog", they are the most demanding and complex of the bunch (kind of like Gentle Giant in the big names of prog in the 70's, although they're not similar in sound).

Their style is a combination of alternative rock, post-rock and math rock and the results equals to prog rock. It's complex and melodic; Accessible and demanding; Good and great!.

My recommended album?: ../album.asp?id=16048 - Hurrah! Another Year, Surely This One Will Be Better Than the Last; The Inexorable March of Progress Will Lead Us All to Happiness

Samples/ Songs: (listen to the song "Pitch and Yaw http://www.myspace.com/youthmovies - ...") http://www.myspace.com/youthmovies - http://www.myspace.com/youthmovies

Quotes:
"YMSS sound like absolutely bugger-all else out there... No band in the world comes close to matching YMSS's thirst for the deranged; nobody can hold a torch to their genre-splicing glory. Prefixes come and go in YMSS's world - post, prog, whatever - but none stick. Only one simple word can successfully clamp itself to this eight-legged beast of a band as it sprints into previously unexplored musical territories: brilliant."
Drowned In Sound

"Brilliantly ramshackle art-punk."
NME

"YMSS take on a whole array of future-looking avant luminaries and spin it into something remarkably eclectic from echoing, beaty space-rock, to undanceable mathematical time-signatures and then into volatile, skin peeling hardcore usually in the same tune."
Manchestermusic.co.uk

"A genuinely scary art-metal racket"
The Independent

"If you're looking for a band who fly in the face of convention, look no further than YMSS"
Total Guitar

"A perfect blend of punk attitude and progressive thinking... YMSS are the British band you'll want nourishing your deepest musical hunger; the group that reaches the spots others can't reach"

The pretentiously long album title entices me, as well as the various reviews. Plus, I trust your judgement Ruben. I'll check them out.

I'll recommend Youthmovie, sure. The mix of post, math and art rock is wild.

Yes you can. Listen to the song I mentioned ("Pitch and Yaw...") in their myspace page and tell me what you think. It's a good representation of their overall sound.

EDIT:
Thanks for the interest Rover. Thumbs%20Up

In short, yes! Big%20smile Tongue

Personally I enjoy them more than these bands probably because their more daring than them, but when I want an easy listen I'll always pick up El Cielo or Now Here Is Nowhere.
