The Ultimate Question: With a rating of nearly 4/5 on Prog Archives, why is it that this album is overlooked, neglected, and not even mentioned at all! Is it bad? Strange? I think it's yummy and highly acclaimed, musically and generally. Maybe not that much here, but Quichotte/Pergamon is a fascination electronic energy album, very dear to all the very good sequential, digital or light-cosmic work Tangram spots - or even better and more rock improvisational than that one. Very good album Quichotte. My favorite after Encore and Poland (tying with Logos) -------------

I used to have Pergamon. Wish I still had it, It's going for £25+ on Amazon. It's similar to Tangram with some of the same musical themes. Not my favourite Tangerine Dream period though. I prefer their albums up to Encore, after that they became a bit too polished and plasticky-sounding. ------------- "The disgusting stink of a too-loud electric guitar.... I think the answer is probably because it is a live album and people generally go for Ricochet, Encore and Livemiles; and because it's known by two different names which splits the ratings; and because they've released over 100 CD's no one can possibly own all of them and stay sane. ------------- What? |

Hmm, the albums here should be united. I for one think it's good to keep under "Quichotte" and mention the "Pergamon" second release, though, these days, you can hardly hope for an original Quichotte. (I got the vinyl.   )-------------

I think it's because most people don't care about Tangerine Dream, and if they do, there's far too many albums for them to keep track of all of them, even all of the ones regarded as good, so people stick with the more famous ones. I could say the same thing about Ahvak. It has a 4.32 average, but I've only ever seen it mentioned a couple times in the RIO thread and in Gecko's sig. |
