Tough choice but I think series 3 is my favourite.

I think 3 and 4 are the best ones, I voted for 4.

I've gone for 3... mainly 'cos I was studying the period when it was first on... and it was very clever...

Series 2 and 4 are good but the dictionary episode in series 3 is genius

Indeed, I believe it's the longest word in the English language.

It's not if you include: floccinaucinihilipification
For me, Goes Forth was the best... not sure why.
Wibble.

Forth for me too ... I think it's because it features five very strong characters, each with his very own type of humour:
- Captain Blackadder (naturally): this time even more cynical than in the third season)
- Lieutenant George: Even more hilarious ("ball bouncingly funny" indeed!)
- Private Baldrick: The essence of stupidity
- General Melchett: *Love* his performance in this season - even more than Lord Melchett in the 2nd season.
- Captain Darling: They overdue the "hello Darling" routine a little bit, but his ever-failing attempts to convict Black Adder of ignoring orders are amazing ... my personal favorite: The court martial of Black Adder for shooting a carrier pidgeon with Darling as the prosecutor.

The third. As Andy (Blacksword) has already pointed out, the episode with Robbie Coltrane as Dr Johnson is one of the all time high points in British comedy.

1 was the silliest,
2 was the funniest,
3 was the cleverest
4 was the most poignant
and I just love silly. (and I've always wanted to use that emoti)
/edit: love the picture of Gregory House above I would almost consider changing my vote to 3 for that

I like all of them, but since I can only vote for one, I go for Blackadders goes Third, mainly for the brilliant Shakespeare play episode

They were finally done away with by the 1832 parliamentary refom act... the most famous one was Old Sarum, 'seat' for both Pitt the Elder and Pitt the Younger, who were both Prime Minister while MP for Old Sarum (New Sarum is Salisbury), which contained only 6 inhabitants....

Ah yes, but Old Sarum didn't have a Dachshund called Colin on its electoral roll..
Anyway, what is a 'robber button'

Goes Forth will always be my favourite, followed by Black Adder 2, Black Adder the Third and Black Adder in that order.
