Stop the discussions about genres, subgenres, tags, concept albums, epics.... and tell us, with a gun on your head, PLEASE CONFESS...

YOUR FAVOURITE PROG BAND IN THE WORLD, ONLY ONE.

We don´t need reasons, we don´t need arguments, we only need the truth, you have to choose.

It would be nice if everyone of us forum members could answer this, is´n it?.

Let me be the first: My favourite band of all times is KING CRIMSON. I´m sure that this perfect band will win the battle of tastes!

edit: I edited the subject, "YOUR FAVOURITE PRO" was before...

Man this is hard. KC, Yes, DT, Rush, and Floyd immediately come to mind.

Rush, I find merit in all their albums (even Hold Your Fire).

After a great deal of deliberation and counting bands like Yes, Ayreon, Kamelot, Epica, PF, The Who, Riverside, Collage etc etc. It is going to have to be Nightwish.

(Nightwish is indeed awesome.  Although now they're going through a major change... so I guess we'll see what happens.)

Same here: impossible to choose. Mostly because I like many many bands for many many reasons... I even think that I have reasons for certain bands that are the exact opposite of the reasons for other bands. Eat blergh forever; I won't choose!!!...

Maybe VdGG one day, but so far i've only heard 3 albums.
But really, my absolute favourite band is the Comus that recorded "First Utterance". Too bad they never made any more. (and don't say "to keep from crying", you know what i'm talking about.)

gah...that's as hard as a room full of porn actors.. i'd have to say Pink floyd, because they opened my eyes to a new realm of music, one that captured the imagination like nothing else had before. now i know it as 'prog', but at the time it was like finding MY sound.
