Whatever happened to this idea? I thought it was a great idea and it seemed to have just fizzled out. I put up a lot of possible options so vote accordingly.

I'm still convinced it shouldn't be necessary to be a forum member to issue reviews, however a registration of reviewers could be helpfull in eliminating bad reviews and ultimely bad-intend reviewers.

Registration to the forum is easy, so that shouldn't be a real problem.

I think mailto:M@x - M@x and Ron are already busy setting it up, if I interpret the former thread about the subject correctly. Just wait for the revamp whenever that is due

Anyway to limit the reviews to senior-members, that would scare of people who have no intend in joining a forum, but do have serious reviews to share with us. (some good reviewers are seldom if not never active on the forum) To force those people to contribute extensively to the forum, before issuing a valuable review seems ludicrous to me.

There also was a part about rating the reviews in the former thread, that looked like a good idea, personally i would like a system that rated the reviewer, so for instance a reviewer has issued 10 reviews, people rate each review for valliance, reliability etc. and there is calculated a score that determines how trustworthy the reviewer is, this could protect against people spamming, under different names, issuing one bad review and then leaving again.

Don't know if this topic needs further discussion, depends on what mailto:M@x - M@x and Ron are up to I guess.

Agree with tuxon..

The more people that visit the site generally the better. As tuxon pints out they may not want to regioster to the forum, but may have something to say about an album or artist. They should be able to submit a review.

I agree, no "incest" please! I think it is fine at it is, a good open system can cope with some "bad" or even "evil"  reviews, some of them are funny anyway.

I like the system as it is. The reviews that are doubtful are reported and discussed in the forum. Censorship of reviews is dangerous because constructive critcism can always be banned (look at the Dukhabuy thread) because someone is upset at good points but not necessarily positive  shed a new light on  the album concerned in a different way than some wish to have it. I want to read those reviews as long as they are respectful.

Good point of Tuxon re: the reviewers that do not participate to the forum ( I've done that for my first year, still read it , though).

However, I wish some forum members with a great progressive culture and large collection participated more in terms of reviews.

OK, I admit it...

I only voted for "Yes, and only Certif1ed prog reviewers" for narcissistic reasons

But I agree with tux
