I missed the easy rounds, this is where it gets difficult... Camel, Rain Dances and Nude are in the biggest danger. As much as it breaks my heart, I think I'll have to go for Camel...

Harbour of Tears, a disaster of an album, in my opinion.

My sentiments exactly - "HOD" is a great Camel album - better than "Nude" or "Raindances" - which are also worse than the debut, IMHO.

There are no bad albums in this list, but I've never been a big fan of Rain Dances, even though I like Richard Sinclair a lot.
I do think it was a good move to get Richard in the band. He's a great singer and Camel had some affection with jazz rock, which made an interesting blend. It's just that Rain Dances doesn't move me as much as most other albums in the list.

The good songs on Rain Dances (First Light is one of my favorites from Camel) are on par with everything Camel previously released, but signs of musical discord started to show between Bardens and Latimer, and even more so on Breathless, which had even less good songs on it. So it may appear as if Sinclair's arrival in Camel is responsible for the downfall in that period, but I think it was really due to the discord I mentionned.

You're right, but as I've understood Doug Ferguson was very much responsible for keeping the two away from fighting. So I wouldn't say it was Sinclair's arrival, but Ferguson's departure that had it's part on their slide downhill.

Funny how it's better because it doesn't exist. It's Harbour of Tears and Dust and Dreams.

I never saw it that way before. I think you must be right, because in most other cases I really like Richard's contribution to the albums on which he appears.

What did you expect then, Harbour Of Tears? I'm not surprised by the outcome. I think the first album is much less popular than the second one.

Makes perfect sense for me too. On the first album they were still finding their feet, (well, actually they had already found them, they just saved the best songs for the second album) while Harbour of Tears is an album by a band with clear vision and the ability to put it on tape. The debut has some great songs like Never Let Go and Mystic Queen, but then there's a lot of stuff that really isn't that memorable. Good stuff anyway, it's a very good album, but not just up to par with most of their output.

This round is over people, and was over before the tie, so the eponymous album is out of the game... use Round 6 from now on !!!
