CD player. #14. That's my tops. I know some of you love vinyl, but I hated all the pops and skips. Digital made life fun.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is a gadget not something useless that we do not really need but acquire for the hell of it? This would have therefore a negative ring to it.

Well I saw a few of those in that list but most of them are actually very usefull and the Swiss army knife actually saved lives - mine among others as I had forgotten the corkscrew on a picnic (pique-nique) and friends were about to kill me. That was a close brush with death!!! It is my top one.

I got a leatherman for Christmas many years ago. I have kept up with it and it still gets frequent use around the house. Hail Hail.

How the mattel magic 8 ball was ranked higher is beyond me. My step son's hasn't worked since it was dropped. What good is a kid's toy that cannot take a good blow?

81. ZIPPO WINDPROOF LIGHTER, 1932

I thought I was the only lunatic that collected this items, I have 95 but most bought about 5 years ago because the stores are crazy about today's prices.

I think I still have my HP-35 lying round under a pile of papers somewhere. The pocket calculator, what a great invention.

Speaking of which, if I could invent a device that would allow me to slap people over the internet, I'd be a rich man.

3. SONY WALKMAN, 1979

This with a pair of headphones to block out the world, was nothing but an ingenious solution to much of my problems back then.

That would turn pervey the moment it got out. My girlfriend would have an arse redder than a baboons, by the time I'd finished work.

70. ATARI PONG C-100, 1976
It played only one game, and that game sucked, but how much time did we burn in front of our little black and white TVs, spinning paddles and watching that tiny block bounce around? Ah, memories.

DAMN I LOOOOVE TECHNOLOGY

My favorite gadget of all time is the string winder for guitars. It cuts the time I spend on re-stringing my guitar in half. Very useful and very clever.
