I have always been a fan of that band and had intentions to write something related...well, I've got few themes, and one of them (initially pre-entitled "Giraffe") is avalaible http://www.realmusic.ru/play/file/hifi/43024/320657/tool_320657.mp3 - here

Don't expect vocals - I ain't Maynard . Anyway, one can easily notice choruses and refrains in this track (they're empty for now), so if anyone knows Maynard, let him know...

^^^ You should.

Like the song, Igor. It reminds me more of Pelican, but I still see the resemblance with Tool (they aren't that far away from each other)

EDIT:
Forgot a smiley!LOL  Clap Thumbs%20Up

Just listen to that part from 4:57 to 5:05 (and others of that kind further). Do you hear that melodic line guitar leads (not the ethereal one on the background, but the main one)? Now imagine Maynard singing something like "I the one who wants to hold you, save you, leave you hypnotized..."

I didn't came with lyrics yet

Igor, could you change the thread title please? The way it appears I almost moved it to another forum. Check the guidelines here.

You may use for instance: xxxx (TOOL-like) where "xxxx" is the name of the artist or band.

Thanks! Smile

EDIT: I changed the title for a while but it's up to you give it the final title.

It looks great, leave it! I don't know how to call it as this theme is neither KROBAK's nor FUNERAL OF THE SUN's one...

Now if you had vocals to go with the song it would be amazing! Reminds me of tool but it isn't ripoff-y at all.

P.S. get a singer, write an album and I'll buy it   Thumbs%20Up

^now you've promised!!!

I already have 50-60 minutes of material of that kind, some proto-songs are heavier(think of MESSUGGAH), some are ballad-like (think of OPETH or ANEKDOTEN), some are closer to Modern Prog (OCEANSIZE, PERFECT CIRCLE, new PORCUPINE TREE etc)...

Very nice and Tool-ish indeed! Smile Which meters did you use? - I can't tell...

Posted By: Prog-jester
Date Posted: May 17 2007 at 13:15
^ thanks for the feedback!

It begins with this phrase (11/16 - 13/16 - 14/16(or 7/8) - 16/16(4/4)) played 4 times and then it goes into another one (7/8 - 7/8 - 3/8 - 3/8 - 7/8), which is verse. Then 1 chorus follows (6/8 - 6/8 - 6/8 - 2/8 = 10/4). Then again verse and chorus 2(6/8 - 6/8 + riff from the beginning, 11/16 - 16/16(4/4)).
Then we have solo in 4/4 ...how did this crappy signature crept in...dunno...
Then chorus 3 - abovementioned "I the one..." (6/8 - 6/8 - 6/8 - 2/16 - 4/4...played 4 times), then chorus 2 and coda = intro.

Pretty simple

No really, I like this track and I adore to play it (with my PC playing recorded rhythm-section)...sheer adrenaline!!!

Holy shit man, no wonder I couldn't figure it out! Those meters are much more complicated than anything Tool have ever done by my knowledge. I'm also starting to like this song more and more. I really hope you can find a vocalist/lyricist (and a fitting one too - don't accept an offer from James LaBrie please Wink), because then it would be totally awesome!!!

PS: I am amazed at how well you can play both guitar AND drums, and in such difficult meters... Clap

he already called me twice and still bombs my e-mail, but I delete all this spam like "I'm your fan, Igor, I want to sing in this project", u know...

Thanks for noticing - I'm very proud of my drumming (though it's made on PC), I use to be a drummer before taking seriously on guitar, so I still want to buy a REAL drumkit, not the virtual one . Daney Carey, Bill Bruford, Woitek from COLLAGE and Roberto Leoni from THE WATCH are my inspiration sources in drumming

Hey, that's pretty sweet man- I liked it a lot. I especially liked that echo-y guitar synthy thing you had going on in the first half of the song.
