I prefer Peart, but I think Fripp would've liked the Yamaha, cuz it does what it's told.

I cant judge as I have only played with the drum machine. For some reason mason wont come play in my band. I even offered $10.

I get it: transparent drummer verses virtuoso drummer verses non-existant drummer.  I don't think Peart would be a good choice for Sigur Ros--nor would a drum machine...for very long.

Nick Mason..but if there have been some old Boss analogue machine, I would think twice.

Geddy Lee said the best thing about a drum machine is that "it doesn't have an opinion".

Peart gets the vote.
