Looking at that ReedLover thread made me remember all the great people who used to be here but have sadly left (and in some cases not so sadly)

How about Belva - wasn't he the guy who kept posting pictures of penises?

Yeah... The Lost Chord was great until he overdosed on Britney Spears and Paris Hilton Unhappy
was that before or after the sexchange operation?  I can't remember.

How about members who say "I'm leaving" and post long eloquent goodbyes.

And don't.

I can't  take them seriously after that.

I like to shun them like the Amish do:  If I should see them on the street, I turn my head;  If they should speak to me, I turn my head; If they touch of my frock, I turn my head; If they touch of my boots, I turn my head; If they touch of my pantaloons, I turn my head; If they touch of my hat, I kick them in the teeth.

or not.

But they are probably the whiniest people I've met.

Nice try, Petey-poo; you know full well that's the state I ended up in after you insisted in demonstrating your peculiar take on pole-dancing, in which you included within your routine two carrots, a tea cosy, a photograph of Charlie Chaplin and a small duck billed platypus called Jemima

Reminds me of that Pantacruelgrule guy. Got roughed up after some newbie errors, announced his departure, then came back all guns blazing. Always good for a petty picky rant, usually with no less than 500 words.
Mind you that seems a pattern. Join PA posters Voice an opinion as if you're stating an obvious fact, then get hammered for your uncluedness, become humble, & slink awayWink

That's really nice to hear about Raffaella's recent academic triumphs! Kudos to her!Clap

I studied some children's lit and fairy tales while at uni, so no doubt I'd find her talk particularly interesting.

If i cannot have the good fortune to attend one of Raf's talks (and meet her, of course), perhaps I can get to read some text some day?

It is Peter.. and I'll pass on your regards when I talk to her in the morning. Thanks, I know she'd appreciate the kind thoughts and words.

For me...oh yes Peter I try to be, but as you can imagine it is pretty rough, for both of us. Thankfully this will be the last seperation we have to endure.. thank god.. for it has been the hardest. It's only been 3 weeks.. and it feels like 3 years.

I was just looking at the book she dedicated to me.  Sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. She told me it seems I'm quite famous in certain academic circles in Italy now LOL.She's got quite a reputation, and she has earned it.   She sent me a portion of the text last year.. never having had any interest or real exposure to fairy tales.. .I found it to be a fascinating read. That is the mark of good writer. I may have it still on the hard drive.. if I do I'll send it to you.

I've been writing reviews here for almost 3 years and have been using the site pretty much since it started but didn't join the forum until about 2 years ago. I should have joined the forum earlier, really, as I'm likely to be around a lot less later this year due to me starting university. I didn't witness the 'ELP wars' but they are mentioned in hushed tones even now...

As for members, Ghost Rider/Raffaella and Trotsky/Martin are missed around here, for sure. Posts and reviews with such wisdom as theirs always had are getting thinner on the ground.

I do remember Wallace though and he's certainly not missed!!LOL

Announced his departure after the typical newbie errors caused too many thoughtful rejoinders. Then to tick off the ones who dissed him even more, stayed & went on to write too many long posts.
Having learned from his & MANY other new members missteps, I stay away from stating opinions as fact, making positive statements about Phil Collins or Dream Theater, & constantly remind myself of the limitations of electronic communications, i.e. sarcasm, Irony, humor, intent etc can easily be missed or misinterpreted.
Maybe, we should put together a new members' list of things to avoid when posting.

I was (and am) especially curious aboutt two members, both of whom joined in summer '05 and visited for the last time the same year in winter... I am surprised, because both were very active during that short period. These are krauthead and Hammill...
I also wonder what happened to the dearest Baldies. I remember having heard an accident one (or both) of whom had been involved, I hope they're doing OK...

(edit: apparently Friede posted on this March, and Jeanine even later, last week! It's just that I failed to see them, you see, I'm a very lazy member Tongue)

Aye, I still lurk about here nearly every day. I just find myself with little to contribute lately (not that I ever contributed much ), plus I am a complete neurotic with crippling social phobia (first time I've ever admitted that online). So its tough for me to get involved with conversations and I tend to shy away from people if they start to get too close to me. Sad but true...

I still love you all!

The last time I saw him he wrote a review for Magic Pie and that was about a week or so ago I think.

How about Lord Qwerty? LOL He was a funny guy although many people got upset if him speaking in third person.

He actually popped in not too long ago. As usual, he infuriated a few people. Even though he can be a bit abrasive, I like him. I miss him too. He could really get a good debate going.
