Favorite album from a  favorite artist of mine?   All of his 70's albums are worth a listen.  The options here are from the first half of the 70's.  Great albums and the most  accessable of his 70's albums.

Clic

The Fetus Italian version is better than the English version IMHO but neither are as good as Clic.

-------------

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

Lee.   have you ever heard an english version of anything that is better?  I must admit I've never bought or listened to an english version of an Italian prog album.  Being a .. bit.. of an elitist, I like to hear them as they were intended to be heard.

It was a little hard for me to decide, but in the end I went for "Fetus". I like its concept, its freshness and naiveness. Anyway, my favourite Battiato's track from that period is Areknames - I think also Brian Eno gave it a listen back in 1973 (what a glorious year Wink)

Although generally I agree with you, I actually prefer the english version of: Il Rovescio Della Medaglia - Contamination. I think you would, too.

Great poll! Like em' all. Love the three first:

1. sulle corde di aries
2. pollution
3. clic
4. m.elle le 'gladiator'
5. Fetus

I'd say that Pollution and Sul corde di Aries are equally liked by me.  Each one is very good in its own way.

this review sums up my opionion

of Aries which i voted for and Battiato

I have several albums by Battiato, but I consider this one the best of the lot, mainly due to the inclusion of the track "Aria di Rivoluzione". So much of Battiato's early material is marred by poor sound quality, cheesy synth sounds (they were cliches even then!), and aimless noodling done under the guise of experimentation. His later work has gone off in many directions, from tedious avant-garde to rock to crowd-pleasing classical work. For a short time, he seemed to know what he was doing (the followup, "Clic", is somewhat similar to this album).

I've never been a Battiato fan, to be honest.

Of his contemporary efforts, i think that  "La Cura" is a terrific song!!
