I just love all those songs. Whenever my arse headed friends at school started with their "manly" arguments about music, Ogre battle was the tool to shut them up for good.

I also think that Flash Gordon is a geat album. Quite entertaining. Somewhat funny, but a nice album anyway. People tend to hate it a lot, and, off course, that song "Hero" as ending is just priceless.

Prophet's song. Yeah, my favorite of a night at the opera (sorry, Freddy), followed by death on 2 legs and the rapsody entering third.

When I was 14 (so long ago!) I translated The Prophet's song to spanish and had it published in the most important rock magazine of all times in Mexico: CONECTE!

Ogre Battle is a guitarist wet dream. And to think that one of Queen's heaviest tunes was written by the "Artsiest" one. Brian May often mentioned that in interviews that Freddie wrote a lot of their heavier songs

Voted Prophets Song..

but it's not as good as 'March of the Black Queen' from Queen II

Marchof the black queen is the best of them all, followed by either the prophet's song, fairy- feller or bohemian rhapsody. Queen were really good when they were good, but there are a few duds on each album as well.

My favourite Queen song is Death on Two legs. But since I can not vote for that song, I have decided not to choose anything, which is also a choice

Great selection of songs! These represent the 'real' Queen to me.
I know many so called 'Queen fans' who only got into the band after Freddie died, and who only have The Greatest Hits albums, yet say 'Wow! Queen! What a great band!'
When I mention any songs like the ones in your list, these people look at me blankly and say, 'never heard of any of those, who sang them?'

I voted for 'Fairy Feller's Master Stroke', by the way! Brilliant lyrics, brilliantly sung and with wonderful timing! Clap

i go with  Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke because is like  a psyco brother of bohemian rhapsody LOL

that's hard. i'm glad queen II is well represented, since it's my favourite queen album. i'd probably have to go with ogre battle or the fairy feller's master stroke. i can't really decide.

Freddy Mercury is often described as a nice person. Beyond that, I truly admire him for writting such a kick arse song. As I said before, whenever somebody starts talking crap about gay people and their music, Ogre Battle is my weapon of choice to make him shut up or go to hell. Incredible song.

You know? I actually have a thing for "Seven seas of rhye"...

Uhm... the best side of QUEEN II is entirely credited to Freddie Mercury.

Ogre Battle, but it's extremely hard to choose.

The first 5 albums, though not easily comparable to any other band of any (sub)genre of prog, are, never the less, uniquely prog.
Each is a non formulaic, complex arrangement of vastly different styles of music, managing effortlessly to share one piece of vinyl (as was) and impressively to make each album sound joined up, without resorting to a concept.
It goes without saying, the musicianship is on a par with any band in progdom.

I did vote for The Prophet's Song, but I do like all of the mentioned tracks!
Right from the start (Queen I) Queen "produced" some magnificent songs like Liar, My Fairy King and Doin' Allright.

Yeah, Doin' Alright is prog, but have you heard the original version by Smile? Beautiful, even without Freddy.

Yes, I've heard the original version. I agree it's a beautiful song. But I just can't help comparing it to Queen's version (which I prefer). I know it's a bit unfair comparing Tim Staffell's vocals with Freddie Mercury's, because Freddie being the better vocalist didn't mean that Tim was a bad vocalist. He just wasn't as powerful and pure as Freddie Mercury was, especially in the higher reaches.

Fairy Feller's Masterstroke. Partyprogrock!

Well, except that it doesn't work like that in reality. Everyone I know, even the progfans hate them, including the early stuff.

^That's because Queen didn't take any of it seriously, had a camp, Glam image, and were better musicians than most Prog Rockers... Wink
