While Waters can sing very emotionally, my vote has to go to Gilmour for Welcome To The Machine.

Gilmour is by far the better singer of both...

Isn't it a ROGER WATERS song???????Shocked

I will go with poor ROGER as he brings the emotion and the edge into his songs; but none of them are great, great singers anyway!

Roger Waters for me, he just can lay much more emotion in a song than Gilmour does.

I voted for Gilmour but I always felt Wright was very underrated as a Singer and Keyboard player. I think Stay is a classic and the combination of Gilmour and Wright on Echoes is mindblowing......

David Gilmour by a MILE.  Waters sounds good on Animals.  But I listened to The Wall yesterday, and I have to say that it almost painful to here him sing sometimes.  Pinch  Gilmour has a beautiful voice.  I have respect for both of them.

Gilmour isn't in any way a great singer...but he is better than Waters, who tends to 'act' out the vocals more than really sing them. LOL

The miracle is that the Floyd had Barret and Wright and Waters and Gilmour singing... I can't split their contributions, nor compare them.

A good leason I learned probably from listening to bands like Marillion  and Floyd is nicer isn`t always better , there's an honesty in the phrasing the ownership of the lyric that an average voice can convey beautifully   even better than a more commercial perfect to the ear voice can if the lyrics suite it, for this reason I went for Roger Waters Thumbs%20Up

very unfair poll!!! my vote goes for Waters cause i can't stand Gilmour.
But you are just evaluating the only thing Gilmour does better than Waters...
Waters is better: Composer, lyricist, person(i mean good guy), and he has deeper feeling such as Hammill does...

My vote obviously goes for RW. (Not Robbie Williams huhLOL)

Yeah, it was already obvious you are enlighted, thus voting Rick Wright Tongue Man, he deserves so much more recognition...

you know, a lot of groups that I love have a lead singer combo (2 vocalists) , and it adds variety to theoverall sound. Waters's voice is best on the cynical hard edged stuff, Gilmour on the dreamier, mellow songs, & both had skill at singing the blues based songs.

You may like or not like the guy, but at least respect what he has done for a career. What have you done, you to judge his vocals and bass playing as zero!
This is the guy who composed most of the music of a band named PINK fLOYD!

Gilmour's vocals are so sterile. They make me feel nothing; I hate them.

On the other hand Roger is one of my favorite vocalists. His vocals are so human. I can't get enough.

In this department Dave.

But when they played together, both were flawless, the combination worked  perfectly, they knew exactly what parts to take.

In the studio:
David Gilmour. Studios albums I love this man voice is soo beautiful, But live he sounds totaly different. It reminds me of the TV series the HULk and becasue of that I choose Roger water.!!!! he brilliant in the studio and live.
Also he still can sing after all these years beautifully. Totally the opposite of Mr. Gilmour.

Point is, he didn't compose most of the music. Yes, he wrote most of the lyrics (which I'll admit are mostly good), but the best material of PF, like Shine on you crazy diamond, Atom heart mother or Echoes were written in collaboration. Also, for the title track of WYWH, he didn't write a single note, he just delivered the lyrics and David Gilmour wrote all the music. And I don't believe it's coincidence that the best song on The Wall, namely Comfortably Numb, is co-written with David Gilmour.
So stop the nonsense about R. Waters did everything! Without David Gilmour's guitarplaying, PF wouldn't have been so popular. If David had left PF, that would have been much worse than the departure of R. Waters

My vote goes to David Gilmour, who I greatly admire for his singing skills.
Waters is definitely more histrionic, but his voice often gets on my nerves!
Truth is that I can't imagine Gilmour singing The Trial or other freaky cuts from The Wall and The Final Cut

A word for Rick Wright: he's always been sorely underrated as a composer and as a singer (when it comes to playing, he's surely no virtuoso, but as I repeated many times, I don't care too much about technicism)

Actually David said in an interview he'd played like 90% of the bass on the records.. going way back to Meddle etc... :P  Anyway, I don't agree with that guys comment at all, I like Rogers singing especially on Animals.

But, how can you say Waters is the better musician? He's an amazing lyricist and writer... but I think Rick Wright and David Gilmour was were the real musicianship was at in Pink Floyd.

I thought both sang on Welcome To the Machine...

Gilmour is too soft and Waters is too harsh but the combination of the two is great. Add Wright to the equation and the result is fantastic.

I've got to abstain on this one.

Aside from what you die-hard Pink Floyd fans say, The Final Cut is one of my favorite albums of all time, and Waters's vocals on that album, prolific as they are, are emotionally powerful ("The Gunner's Dream" and "The Final Cut" stand out in this respect).

David Gilmour's On an Island makes me want to go to the beach every time I hear it, and I think his vocal on "Dogs" is superb.

As for Wright, I've got to say I like his also.

Waters whines all throughout The Wall, and while that album may be my favorite of theirs, the irony is that I prefer Gilmour. I miss the days of prime Floyd when Waters was humble enough to realize who the better frontman was and allowed Dave to sing his lyrics for him.

I mean, when Gilmour finally chimes in during "Comfortably Numb", I realize just how much better he is at the whole singing thing than Roger. Sorry Roge, you may be a better lyricist, but Dave has you beat both in musicianship and vocal ability.
