Sorry but if I were ever lucky enough to be a millionaire, I don't intend to just waste it on a bunch of unknown's that wouldn't raise a ripple on the media scale...no, I would create a televised prog extravoganza along the lines of Live Aid, that a) Has the world reknown giants that are household names, with enough talent and appeal in the current day names to raise the profile of today's Prog music...so a mass audience go out and buy their albums...and b) I'd hopefully I'd make a profit on advertising, sponsorship, and TV rights...and then start building on the success, repeating it every two years, and maybe even creating a record company to develope this genre back to what it was 30 years ago!....all that, and I'm a rule breaker!...grins

DAY ONE:

WOBBLER
WHITE WILLOW
PAATOS
VAN DER GRAFF GENERATOR

DAY TWO:

RIVERSIDE
NEBELNEST
GUAPO
PORCUPINE TREE

I'd spend all of my money to see two days of shows like this!

If I break your rule about recent bands I would change the line up to this:

Day One-eliminate Paatos, and have a reunion of the original 1969 line-up of
King Crimson as the headliner.

Day Two-eliminate Guapo and have the REAL
Gabriel/Hackett Genesis as the headliner!

I'd go bankrupt to see a two day show like that!

2nd day: Neo-Prog/Metal

I stand corrected (and made the change above). I got carried away by having the opportunity to have both Karcius and the Watermelon in my festival.

What is prog rock ?

It is music that does progress. Progressive music takes a riff, turns it inside out, plays it upside down and the other way around, and explores its potential.

They'd have to keep Fish distracted during Marillion's set, otherwise he might run out on stage and molest Pete during the "Garden Party" jam

I can just see Fish having Pete's mic stand bolted down, and his shoes glued to the stage, so that when Marillion's set is over, Pete is forced to stay and endure Fish's...  not entirely welcome advances Big%20smile
