I've been watching a lot of gangster films lately. Boy howdy, are they great!
For me the choice is simple. Edward G. Robinson has become one of my all time favorite actors. No disrespect to Cagney though. He was also a genius.

I have to go for Cagney because 'Angels With Dirty Faces' was a favorite of mine as a kid.

Hey you have to admit not only was he a great gangster the man could also step.  Trivia: Cagney's first job as an entertainer was as a female dancer in a chorus line.
