well it's my first time here on the forum but this site has been my, let's say "source" of music for the past year. Even though i've been listening to DT a long time ago, i kind heard them cause of my long time heavy metal love, just the past year i became really interested in prog. I first started with DT like i said, since then i've been 2eating" everything i can.... riverdise, shadow gallery, beyond twilight, mindkey, POS, Sun Caged Vanden Plas, Redemption etc etc but i've come to a dead end. Has you can see prog metal is my thing, but i have a detail that maybe some of you will desegree, i simply can't like growled vocals , i've tried but i can't. Well i hear Orphaned Land just cause i love the concept of Mabool and Maudlin of the well, these are the only to exceptions. So please help me my fellow progers, tell me bands for me to hear pleaseeee but  avoid the growled vocals please :)

ps- I'm completely addicted to beyond twilight right now, all the albums are great and to be sure For The Love Of Art And The Making is one of the most original albums of all times

Hello Xalita and welcome to the forum.

I'm far from an expert on prog metal, but I can offer one suggestion: Aghora, who play a fairly technical brand of metal with strong influences from jazz and Indian musics.  They also feature very pleasing female vocals, no growling!  There's a sample on PA and I think quite a few on their web site.

EDIT: You might also check out Spiral Architect, who are just ultra-technical, about as technical as one could possibly get I would imagine.  Their vocalist doesn't growl (though he is definitely an acquired taste and may be a turn-off for some).

Those with better knowledge of prog metal will be along to advise you soon, I'm sure.

Well, it is with great pleasure that I will do this. A DT fan? A new supporter in PA? Prog-metal lover? As you will learn during your stay in PA, I'm one of DT's most critical objectors...Wink.... So, with no hesitation,

What he meant to say was "I'm DT's biggest fanboy.  If John Petrucci were to kick me in the balls, it would be the greatest thing to ever happen to me!"

I think you should  try some norwegian prog-metal; Ark, Conception and Circus Maximus is all first-class. Especially Ark Evil%20Smile
