Peter Hammill has finally revealed a little more about David Jackson's departure from Van der Graaf Generator. He doesn't go into full detail, but it maybe still somewhat of an interesting read for those of you who are unaware of the circumstances.
It also makes me sad at what has happened.
The link is: http://www.sofasound.com/nlnow.htm - http://www.sofasound.com/nlnow.htm
Also check out the latest news section, because there has been a few minor announcements there also.
And remember: Real Time is now ready to be purchased, so get your wallets out and buy it! ![Wink](smileys/smiley2.gif)

Sad, but without amazing David Jackson the sound of VDGG will be cripled.

Indeed, sad news, but the show must go on I guess- at least they are carrying on. Will be interesting to see how they re-arrange the songs for a 3 piece band.
None of the shops near me had Real Time today, typically, but it should be in one of them on Wednesday apparently. Let's hope so...

It's Deja Vu
30 years ago,Feb' 1977 I went to see the nascent Van der Graaf at The Chalk Farm Roundhouse. It was a shock not seeing Banton and Jaxon on stage. But,wow! What a fantastic gig it was. They really caught the zeitgeist.
I know that this time the reason for the 'new line-up' is different and disappointing to those who were yet to see the H.B,J,E line-up but I'm sure things will work out fine. After all; I don't think Hammill,Banton & Evans would go ahead if they didn't feel things were right (see newsletter).
I, along with a few others, will probably write a review the Barbican gig .

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

That's OK, but I can't imagine "Man erg" without Jackson's sax. We will see.
On The quiet zone/The pleasure dome there was violin( Graham Smith), without Jackson, and I didn't like it very much

I'll also probably write a review for the Barbican gig (maybe) but I wish I was able to see VdGG with Jackson. Oh well. But the newsletter sounds encouraging.

I shall also most likely write a review for the Barbican gig.
I've just finished my Real Time review. I've not got the album yet, but I can safely say that my review should reflect what's present on the CD. I hope so anyhow.
Mine's more like a concert review, rather than a CD review, it's difficult not to write it that way. Hmmm.
I have my copy of Real Time on order, hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow or Wednesday.

a pity that jackson leaves the band really, I consider him an espectacular musician, and a very important piece of VDGG.
besides this, I think the band will make a great production as a trio, they still have de genious of Peter Hammill.
at last, y hope the new disc to be great!

The clot thickens....
Interesting to see what PH has to say, obviously no chance of a guest slot for Jaxon then!
I don't care anymore, just looking forward to the mini tour round the UK. I will be the person shouting "play OCTOPUS"

I'll be the one shouting Squid then.
Infact, I quite like "Afterwards".
They certainly can play some stuff from TAGM without Jackson.

Personally I just can't imagine the group without David Jackson being as good as before. They are one of those bands who is very reliant on each member and only seem to work as a whole.

They wouldn't carry on as a trio if they weren't sure they still have it in them. I consider Hammill to be a person of too much integrity for going on just for the heck of it. The carreers of the band and him are proof of that.

Hmm...
Very sad, yet interesting news. I can't wait to hear the trio and what they sound like with the sax man. They've certainly got a challenge...but if anyone can succeed after that its VDGG. I wish them, and Mr. Jackson, the best of luck.
Also, can't wait to buy Real Time. ![Clap](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif)
