Well right now I'm writing this song that so far clocks at 14:29 and isn't yet finished, but I'd like some feedback from anyone who's willing to take a listen! Some constructive criticism would be GREATLY appreciated! Any way I can improve (and help finish) this song would be fantastic! So anyone who wants to take a listen it's a MIDI (so please bear the horrible sound) and can be found right here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7UT5PFS7 - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7UT5PFS7

I don't like the midi sound, you should really try to play (or get some people to play) all the stuff that is in here and record it, because it's well-composed and has potential.

0:00 - 2:00 . I like the intro with the strings and that little riffing. SUGGESTION: that thing that does chords ... do it with a strumming acoustic guitar, it will sound good.
2:00 - 3:25 That guitar synth with the high notes is a bit uunpleasant to the ears, if you have an appropiate keyboard synth sound, it could sound good. I like the rhythm changes.
3:30 -6:30 That acoustic guitar could sound pretty cool if it's not a midi, especially when it gets heavier: perfect for an electric guitar or neal morse-style synth riffing.
6:30 - 7:30 : Rocky part perfect for Actual METAL when you make the actual song (I think)
7:30 - 9:30 : Do you have a church organ sound? when the buildup finishes, it could add variety and sound pretty damn epic.
9:30- 11:00 I don't enjoy this section, though it mightt be because of the midi sound. Maybe that single note riffing quickly following the chords should be in the background while the chords being more dominant when building up.
11:15 : I love that weird transition to the soft part
11:30 - 12:30 : Calm after the storm ... doesn't last long enough hehe, but making it longer would make it dull
12:30 - 13:30 ... that heavy part and the chords could probably benefit again with church organ or other heavy sounds to play chords to make it more epic.
Again a very nice transition and you make really good percussion.
End : I think when the heavy part starts again, it should sound heavier and 'different' Maybe work from there, build it up to a different and heavier section and end the song

Btw, I'm also working on an epic and just finished it, maybe u'd like to hear mine, it's 10 min. long and I'll post it right now in this "musician" subforum

around where the 13 minute part ends, I'm writing a different heavy section. Lots of Tool/Opeth style riffing with some crazy time changes, I plan to build that up into the tapping guitar part I have towards the end. And eventually an epic solo in the ending. Thanks a lot for your feedback, greatly appreciated. I'll check out your song when I get back from Wendy's lol.

And also, the thing that does the strumming in the first 2 minutes is an acoustic and clean guitar if I know what you're talking about. You might mean something else.

yeah, i guess it's a guitar, it just didn't seem like it  =)

Tool/Opeth? That sounds promising.
