Here is my suggestion,

Instead of a long list of suggested artists waiting to be categorized (or rejected) why doesnīt every team work on 3 suggested artists at a time. At the end of the thread someone will give a definite answer.
This is what happened with the Edenbridge thread (plus many others)
This way we will have no unanswered requests or "think about it later" suggestion threads  drifting off into cyberspace, or being repeated over and over again (Bowie, The Who etc)

Itīs the same as a housing project. The first people who signed up for houses should be the first to move into them. Imagine thousands of half built houses? That would cause a lot of anger and bad will.

Another suggestion would be to have a Prog Related team. These people would be chosen by their reviews, or on what they review. Someone who reviews various genres without being biased to one particular genre would be suitable to join this team.

What does everyone think?

The prog related team is the admins if I'm not mistaken.

As Ben correctly says, the Admins are the prog-related team. We're trying to concentrate more on the prog genres than prog-related at the moment.

You'll probably find that the genre teams are already working on more than 3 bands at a time anyway.

Who is on the Canterbury Scene Team? I don't think I've seen that one before.

I guess you've never been to Greece?Wink

On topic: I think it's best for the teams if they can deside themselves how to work, the whole thing is done on an non-profit basis so we cannot force the collaborators to do something they don't want to just beause we want to see a band included as fast as possible. If they do want to use this method though, I see no problem at all.

What I meant is to work on 3 threads (of "suggest bands") and someone gives a final answer at the end of each thread. Then we move onto the next 3.

@Frasse-No, Iīm not forcing anything on the collaborators, itīs just a suggestion to make things more easy.

Thanks memowakemen. I guess there is only one person since you don't really add any more bands to Canterbury or do you?

I meant you as in you guys as a group not you specifically. Meaning are any bands added to Canterbury, like new bands.

A few comments on Greg's suggestion - which doesn't sound half bad to me, by the way!Wink

Yes, we of the Admin team double up as Proto-Prog and Prog-Related team. This is necessary in order to avoid people adding their favourite bands to the DB without even considering if they really fit what the site is about - after all, everyone has their own definition of prog, and without some screening we'd find anything from Tom Waits to some obscure post-punk band included here!LOL

As regards Greg's proposal for band addition, it does have a lot of merit, as it would prevent bands and artists falling into oblivion if no one will bother to add them as soon as they are suggested. The problem is another, in my opinion: bands are suggested in a number of ways that doesn't always involve the opening of a dedicated thread in either the main forum or the Collabs zone. I know we of the AR team gets lots of suggestions via PM or e-mail, which are immediately added to our chart and dealt with as soon as it is humanly possible.

There is also another factor to be taken into account. There are teams that get more suggestions than others, which means they often can't keep up with them all. And then, there are those suggestions whose genre is not clearly defined yet, which of course slows the process down.

Whoah, dude, Bowie isn't on the site? Well, that's OBVIOUSLY what this thread should from now on be about!

What happens with us, as I'm sure it does with other teams, is we get many suggestions that don't end up with us. I recently had one that was better suited for Neo. That involved more than just conferring with my team members, but also bringing in the Neo team. This also happens when the choice is not exactly clear. They may end up with us, but we consult with other other teams before the decision is made. All this goes on while we are also undertaking a large project, and living our daily lives.
