I bought Vicky one of these odd contraptions for her birthday last year (iPod nano 4GB) & up to last Friday, no problems at all - even to the point of almost persuading me to get one for myself.

However - V downloaded the new software on Friday, since when, iTunes will not recognise/update her iPod...

Knowing little or nothing about modern technology, can anyone here suggest a cause/remedy.

Cheers

Jim

Same thing has happened to me a few times, but whenever it happens for me I just restart my computer and re-upload my files and it seems to work right again.

But then again, I never did download the new software.

Jim
can't help with the iPod myself, as I conciously avoided buying one, but if you post this question on Yahoo Answers, then someone should be able to sort this out for you.

PS - happy to post the question for you if you don't have an account.

Have you tried restoring the settings? My was acting a bit funny, and that helped. You can also go to the Apple site, and got to iPod support.

Don't have an account, so if you get the chance, we'd be grateful - cheers mate.

Ah Jim, I had the same problem......... ok, what I had to do was to entirely reset the ipod to factory settings...... sounds scarier than it is, there were a LOT of details on the i-pod / apple website.
I re set the i-pod from then plugged it back into the i-tunes and it re loaded. I don't have a nano, so I am not exactly sure how to go about it, but I know I got all the help I needed from the website and although a pain in the butt it worked ok.

Good Luck!

Many thanks all of you - I shall pass this info on to 'she who must be obeyed and fed chocolate' - Vicky's the more techno-savvy of us, so no doubt she'll be able to decipher all this gubbins...

...you know, things were much simpler with my old Sony cassette Walkman.

I had no problem loading the new version on mine.

Glad to hear you  got it straight.

I wish I would have held out for the 8gb, though.
