This will help us knowing a little bit more about you guys !

If you don't know ...

- If you must connect to the phone line each time , chances are you are on a Modem 28-33.6 or 56k

- If you are always connected ... chances are you are on High Speed connection

TEST YOUR SPEED HERE: http://reviews.cnet.com/Bandwidth_meter/7004-7254_7-0.html - http://reviews.cnet.com/Bandwidth_meter/7004-7254_7-0.html

I haven't got the slightest idea.

I'm so not interested in how it works or why it works, I'm just glad It works.

I believe it is a broadband modem, my guess would be it's quit fast. Is there somewher you can see these kinds of information on the computer.

I have a 1 1/2 Meg broadband routed from my NTL Satellite Box. My daughter shares the connection on her PC upstairs so no doubt that reduces my bandwidth greatly.

It would be nice to have a "techy" area to discuss getting more out of our connections, or using "feeds" and other quite esoteric PC stuff.

Obviously Max, you would be a help and the "person who doesnt like to be named " C***1F**D (maybe we could call him Yarweh much like the Jews who dont like to use God's name(Wink))seems to know his stuff when it comes to Computer Tech, and he is Ok with a Computer!

Others here will be expert relative to us amateurs. Some of what seems obvious to you, PC-wise, will be unfamiliar with many of us.

Big smile

OK with a Computer...

That's nearly funny, R**d...

My setup is an ADSL router/hardware firewall/NATed DHCP server connected to a 512K service. I don't really need any more speed here, as I can get all my big downloads at work, where we have an 8Mb pipe - and a fatter, direct one to our partner companies.

I've been working with computers since 1991, and still don't understand the things... but I am OK with them, as R**d so kindly points out...

Bandwidth calculation is measured against that of CNET's Internet Services. Bandwidth may be higher or lower depending on Internet congestion. Calculated tests do not reflect server reliability and speed.

I have a modest 56k modem, can't afford to pay two cables (one for the office and one for my house).

The only advantage is that I live far from downtown so the connection (even with the test machine) always gives me more than 50K and Peruvian normal cable is giving an average of 35k in my office.

I've got their 600k broadband package (in with the TV, Cable, Telephone, VHF Radio etc etc), but I'm mostly on line via the company's 8mb pipe connection

I thought it was a broadbandphone line modum, with phase shift modulation adjustment. I had it calibrated through the main deflector to increase the subspace distortion feedback.

It's fast enough for me

Yeah-their customer support team is the most patronising and inefficient i have ever come across. They upgraded my set-top box because the old box couldnt handle 1meg+ broadband and Tv pictures. The new box, a Samsung, has no audio out feeds to connect to my surround sound system! 2005 and they give me a box which has no flexibility at all!Angry Also I am only allowed 3mb of file on an Email! Confused

We homeschool because we move around a lot because my dad is in the Air Force. Instead of switching schools every three years, it is easier just to mail our work in from where ever we are.
