Hi Proggers,
My name is Christian and I recently registered at progarchives.com. I started listening to progressive music about a half year ago, and since then I’ve almost been obsessed with it .
Uptill now I’ve used progarchives.com to seek information about the different kinds of bands I have been listening to. Then I decided to register in order to participate in the forum discussions and learn more about progresssive rock and exchange point of views with people. The bands/artists I listen to include: The Moody Blues, Supertramp, Genesis(gabriel era), Hawkwind, Muse and Mike Oldfield.
I’m fairly new to the genres so I would really appreciate it if you could suggest some bands I ought to listen to....

Welcome. You could try Druid (singer sounds like Gabriel), IQ, Pendragon, Steve Hackett's solo stuff and maybe Yes to be going along with. I'm sure you'll get plenty of other ideas here.

Yes is a good recommendation. You will probably like Camel aswell. Van
der Graaf Generator and Gentle Giant are bands you must have heard
aswell, although they (especially Gentle Giant) can be slightly harder
to get into if you're new to the genre.
When you feel you're ready, try the Avant-Prog, Krautrock and Zeuhl
genres aswell. Hard to get into, but when one does they are very
rewarding.

Welcome!
I second the Camel recommendation. You might want to check out King Crimson.
