Sorry if something similar to this thread has been done before, I attempted to search for it but found nothing like what I intended to ask.
As is pretty obvious from my avatar, I'm a fan of Miles Davis. However, I'm actually not much of an expert on his material, and have only heard maybe 1/4 of the vast amount of music he's released.
I bet there are a lot of other Davis fans on the archives, so my question is this: what are your top 5 Davis albums? If you only know less than 5 but you like them a lot, feel free to mention that instead.
Mine, at the moment, would be:
1) Kind of Blue 2) Bitches Brew 3) In a Silent Way 4) Porgy and Bess 5) Sketches of Spain

Interesting, thanks for the posts.
I'm compiling a list of Davis albums I should get next, and these will be very helpful.
Keep 'em coming!
My father just read the Davis autobiography (simply titled "Miles") and said it was a good read.

This list might change, and I only own about
15 (and heard ca 25) of his albums:
1 Big Fun
2 Bitches Brew
3 Dark Magus
4 In A Silent Way
5 Live Evil
The In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew Sessions are pretty unbeatable, but I didn't include them. Since they both include music from other well known albums (such as Filles de Kilimanjaro and Big Fun).
No love for Dark Magus here? This is the first few lines from a review I fully agree with, found on Amazon (Frank Bock):
This album by the Prince of Darkness is most likely, the thickest,
darkest piece of music that I own. It sounds more like Miles recorded
it in Hell than Carnagie Hall, as everything is dark and dense and
almost possessing an evil quality. And the band rocks pretty hard.

Last call, before this thread ends up fading into oblivion ... anyone else out there a Davis fan who wants to share their favorites with us?
