I've noticed that when I press alt+1 while I'm typing into a quick reply box, it takes me back to the front page. Since I'm using a standard english QWERTY keyboard I need to use alt and the numberpad to enter accented characters. This currently isn't possible for me.

Is there anyway of disabling this feature?

Erm, I don't know about disabling ALT+1, but you don't have to use ALT for accented characters [I assume you are using Windows] .... just open the Character Map [you'll find it in Accessories - System Tools] - double click on the character you want - then copy and paste

Well it's a bit of a pain in the arse to do it through charmap every time.

Without knowing why your browser is doing this I can't help you; alt + 1 does nothing for me. Is it a Firefox extension or something like that?

the only extension I have plugged into firefox is AdBlock and logically that should make things like this happen less ;)

I haven't upgraded to Firefox 2 yet, if that helps at all.

Can't you type a character like é by simply pressing "´" and then "e"? I don't need the ALT key to do this.

Using alt +1 gives me that little smiley above!

alt+2 = ☻
alt+3 = ♥
alt+4 = ♦
alt+5 = ♣
alt+6 = ♠
alt+7 = •
alt+8 = ◘
alt+9 = ○

Sorry, this doesnt help..
