I've got most of their albums and seen them live twice.I've also got the DVD 'Scenes From A Memory'.Unfortunately the CD's and DVD's seem now to be just gathering dust. on my shelves.I havn't played any DT for ages. It's got me thinking whether I ever really liked this band.I thought I did but somewhere along the line I stopped liking them.Train Of Thought was a dissappointment so that may well have triggered my reaction.Portnoy although one of the most talented drummers around is sounding too familiar now while Rudess is just a speed freak. The music is just heavy metal with some fast keyboard runs to alleviate the monotony is it not?

I'm just discovering DT. I ignored them for so long, having dismissed the smal amount I'd heard as metal, and totally un-prog.

My opinion has changed, since joining this forum last summer. I read so much about them on here, I thought I should give them a go. So far, three albums later, I'm not dissapointed. Train of thought was a little metal for me, but Images and Words is brilliant.

So, I'm not bored yet, because I like the songs. Perhaps that pollished metal production will start to grate after a while.

I got totally bored of Dream Theater a while ago, but then back into them again; recently I'm not all that interested in them but it seems to come in waves.

I find their albums to be to long.

50 minutes is enough for an album. (no matter which band). Only for live albums, or compilations the 70 minute option is a good idea, but for studio releases it's too much. I never have the time and patience to sit through an album for more than an hour.

I've been a fan for two years now, and I've never got bored of them.

I've got all their albums and DVD's, and love every single song!

If your bored, I'd recommend getting the "Live At Budokan" DVD. Although the "Scenes From New York" DVD is great, not everyone can sit through watching the entire album being played. "LAB" has more variety and just has an overall better feel to it.

I've only gotten two albums of theirs. Images and Words and Scenes from a Memory. I really like Scenes from a Memory, but I just don't care for Images and Words, I know everyone says its great, but I can't get into it.

Yes, but they are currently the best posers in prog/metal. Give them some credit for that. Not all proggers have to be fat fifty somethings with beards and bad personal hygiene.

But I like to think it helps

I THINK Mike Portnoy is fatter (although I could be wrong).

Could be, it's just more obvious with James when he's walking around on stage I guess.
