interesting enough to be a just for fun or a recommendation...
I usually went in awarding an artist, an album, a thing in one week, but mildly serious.
So:
My Artist Of The 16.12 - 22.12 Week: Peter Gabriel (I happened to not listen to Secret World Live and to a Gabriel album, in fact, in quite some time. The Wendsday evening listen and watch of the Secret World performance blew me off like always)
My Album Of The 16.12 - 22.12 Week: The Koln Concert by Keith Jarrett (I daily listen to a new jazz album from a complete artist journey, for more than six weeks that artist will be Jarrett, but now that I've reached the Koln Concert, this album is astonishing and it thrills me from the first to the last note)
My Song Of The 16.12 - 22.12 Week: Stuffed Tomato by Vangelis from "The Dragon" (by now, you must already think I'm queer at awarding choices. I already said a Gabriel live and video act blew me off old-nostalgic style, then I moved towards another thrill, to finally mention a different sort - and a short one also - of music composition. Well that's the case: Until now I totally disliked The Dragon, and I still do. But this composition is really the best thing from the entire material. Excellent dynamic percussion, tumultuous sense. It surprised me and it pleased me.)
See ya next Friday.

Artist of the 30.12.2006 - 05.12.2007 week: John Abercrombie (I've started listening to all his main music; so far the impression is incredible; Abercrombie will most likely have more than one week nomination)
Album of the 30.12.2006 - 05.12.2007 week: The ProjeKcts by King Crimson (excellent heavy experimental instrumentality from the Crimson masters)
Track of the 30.12.2006 - 05.12.2007 week: Re-awakening by Peter Hammill (from Fool's Mate) (quite wonderful tune)

Sorry to go out of frame, cause I will do instead three albums of the week for me:
The (Ec) Nudes - Vanishing Point. Great rock/at times RIO trio comprising Amy Denio on bass, sax, accordion and singing, Chris Cutler on drums and percussions and Wadi Gysi on guitars. Released in 1994 on ReR.
Arachnoid - s/t. Great dark French symphonic prog.
Anamorphose – Palimpseste. Great fusion/art-rock from France released in 1986.
(actually have more albums of the week, but don't want to overload).

Sum Up of recent listenings:
Very mixed styles as usual.
Ive been going from metal, to Avant-prog to ISP, to rock to folk to some pop and back again.
http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2612 - EMMA MYLDENBERGER and their two albums http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=12838 - Emma Myldenberger (a folk album) and http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=12839 - Tour de Trance (whichm as its name suggests, is indeed a good hypnotizing experience) are two mesmerizing albums, and the latter one is epsecially recommended.
Zypressen and their s/t album have been lurking in the cd player, sending their chamber music/Avant-prog music (some reminding of UZ, and some not....). I will be adding them soon to PA.
http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2891 - VIRGIN BLACK and their latest effort http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=15090 - Requiem - Mezzo Forte are doing a good job as usual with this band. "Fans" will like it, I guess, I know I do.
http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2879 - LARVAL and their three albums http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=14590 - Predator or Prey , http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=14591 - Obedience and http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=14592 - Surviving Death / Alive Why? deliver crude but efficient textures of rock.
http://www.grayceon.com/ - Grayceon and their s/t is one of the best album I recently got. I'll add them as well to PA soon. Though, raw, this is great energetic and crunchy metal/rock with some delicate moments, male/female vocals with cello (w/o bass) which may bring to mind post metal, but this isn't as fierce and heavy as those bands and on the other hand there are some post-rock qualities to it and yet it doesn't really belong there as well.
The Hosemobile - What Can & Can't Go On is another band I recently bought their album and I want to add them as well (though not sure where yet). Guitar driven rock with some avantish moments and some other which are more post-rockish... all in all, effective layers of guitar riffs, interchanging tempos and themes and good playing.
There's actually much more, but due to lack of energy, I'll leave it at that.
Unless someone wants to know... (I doubt it...).
Have a good weekend, everyone!

Artist of the Week: Nick Drake Album of the Week: Robert Fripp - Exposure Song of the Week: Eric Burdon and the Animals - Sky Pilot
...I'm a recent convert to Nick Drake - I've ignored his music for years, but since no-man's cover of Pink Moon I've been slowly warming to him.
...Exposure is a bit of a mishmash and at times feels like warmed-up leftovers, but the Peter Hammill songs are incredible.
