First, I do think sports are compatible with an intellectual live (believe me, there are some that think both are exclusive).... I personally like a little bit football (american nfl style)....

BUT THE KING OF KINGS OF ALL IS FUTBOL....

Or for you, Angry, "soccer"

Big smile

The so called soccer.
A question to you north americans: why do you call 'fútbol', 'soccer'? Wouldn't be 'football' the best word for it? (it annoys me when people calls it soccer).

As most US folk speak English, this would be logical.

LOL

Not fond of him either, but it's still better than Chinese champion of UK. Nothing against Chiinese or any other nation, was just very disappointed by UK wizards then. And on the last UK Championship I was all for Hendry (my all time favourite) to win but game is game and all balls are round.

Hendry's achievements are still unsurpassed, I guess?
And big round of applause to Steve Davies - amazing old man, and people's champion Jimmy "The Unlucky" White Clap.

Which is why Association Football is the more played, wider played, more watched, most popular, World Sport?

because we call football football. there can't be two footballs it's just confusing. soccer isn't all that popular in the US and football is our top sport. it's quite simple.

I played korfbal for years.

It's a mixed game, with both female as male participants in the team.

after the match we had mixed showers

 (hot and cold water)

It is a fun game to play, though a bit boring to watch honestly.

Also played basketball, voetbal, billiarts, darts and klaverjassen.

but the number 1 game has to be chess, the thrill and anticipation as you watch your opponent break into a cold sweat after a fast and ferociously agressive attacking move, and than see his face lit up like a happy baby who just wetted his dad for the very first time when he sees a gap in your defence and dives in head first, with no compassion for your feelings, only to be confronted with a killer move which attacks and congueres his king.

This sport should be on Eurosport more often.

1.- Football (The reakl one, not that USA invention)
2.- Baseball
3.- Surfing

I reached the National Baseball team as first base, not a great honor being that almost nobody plays Baseball here, most of my team mates were Japanese descendents and the rest of us had studied in a Catholic USA school.

Baseball is fine but it's not exclusively American (from the USA, I mean)! It's played intensely in all the Americas and many countries in Asia, from where many great players came, no? Smile

Cricket  (actually requires skill in all areas opposed to just one or two aspects, it’s the one sport where it pays off to be intelligent)

Australian Rules Football makes all other sports look piss-weak. Makes soccer look like a game played by 6 year olds.

I was born a racer, and I shall die a racer!

Yeah, yeah I know...Racing, it's just a bunch of greasy hairy Americans covered in oil. Don't think of it that way, I've been a racer for five years and everybody is friendly, they don't hold set-up information or anything like that (Of course you get one or two bad apples...) and the whole greasy guy playing with a car stereotype should be thrown out the window because I met my beautiful girlfriend at the race-trackSmile

So, uhh, there you go!

Because all you need is a ball and a field and little in the way of equipment.  Much cheaper.  Also, it's too hot to play American football in a lot of places with all that equipment on.  So not a fair comparison.

Football (not soccer), then baseball and hockey.
