Hmmm, not enough room to add a few others or include a selection for "other."

I left off Max and Rony because then the whole point of the thread would be moot.

Okay, Which forum member is is essential, without their input, the forum would be rather boring and, likely, unsuccessful.

Multiple votes are okay, but a chance to say something good about each selection would be a welcome thing. I think something positive would be a nice injection for those feeling a bit boxed in with all the "Is ..... Prog?" and pointless polls and such.

Cheers.

Yeh!  I'm the winner!  But that's alright, I only post if I have something very valid or funny to say.  Or if I'm arguing with someone like you over a topic like this.

You've left yourself out, so I can't vote for my favourite forum member

I'm a firm believer of the antroposofic philosophy (excistence is in the eye of the beholder, so to excist something has to be observed)

If I never had known of this site, it wouldn't have excisted, that makes me the most important member.

Yeah Tuxon took the words out of my mouth er hands. How could you leave yourself off?  I think all of those people are worth while. Silly sometimes but they do have something to add.

They are the ones that make this place enjoyable, fun and informative.

Honestly I htink we're all important, as corny as it sounds. I understand that you may have put this poll out here because of a-holes like me pushing Zeppelin and such. Sorry, but honestly, everyone has something to say. Gdub and Reed are probably the most amusing of the bunch, but I also learned a lot about Van der Graaf generator from Gdub, so he's informative. It's fun to see Peter's homophobic remarks towards Gdub. Eddy is the youth we should value most, trying to get into prog as a young lad. I think Ivan should be up there, he's a Gabriel Oracle, Jren etc, my Dutch Comrades!

This is becoming an Oscar speach line up, so in conclusion everyone matters!

I voted for the witty, erudite and self-deprecating (you can look those words up, DanboWink) James Lee, but I'd like to see my web-pal Danbo up there, along with my South American bud Ivan.

I'll also vote for our hard-working, and peace-loving Moderator Maani, the all-too-often-absent Aussie Dude, Cesar just for being a Roman Inca, and my best Brit "mates" Jim, Easy, and Dick.

Easy for his calm wisdom and mega-reviewing capacity, Dick for his inexhaustable, impressive musical knowledge, and Jimmy Gee for his smooth moves on the dance floor.

(Oh, J.G. also makes me laugh aloud more often than anyone else here!)Clap

I will vote for others, too, and tell you why, but those Forum heavyweights, for starters....Smile

It is downright disturbing that a 44 year old would call a "bud" a South American Male he knows only through the internet.

All:

Actually, I did not vote, nor would I (for obvious reasons).  However, more than that, while I will not delete this thread (since you have every right to post it), I'm not sure that it is helpful in any way, and may in fact be unintentionally divisive.  All of you are important to the site - and no, I'm not just "sucking up" to anyone or everyone.

So, whatever happens with this thread, please know that it does not, cannot, and should not reflect the truth: that everyone is equally important, and that every voice counts.

Peace.

Sweet a positive comment for me! And even poor K00l. As I've said before, I share your love for Mr. Gabriel.

So us Robs are 2 of a kind eh? Damn him! Stealing my identity!

Sigod is clever/funny -- gets a vote.

Arcer, ditto.

Richardh is an old-time, essential, long-suffering, but ever-loyal ELP fan, and a thoughtful guy -- he gets one.

Joren & Penguin, for being "wise beyond their tender years," and giving us oldsters a fresh perspective.

Reed Lover, for initially (deliberately, yet!) irritating me, but then becoming a chum -- and for being a formidable debater, often unabashedly, gloriously politically incorrect, and for always calling it like he sees it.

Petra & Gdub for being so adorably girlish....Wink (Just joking, Pet! No sexism intended!)

And everyone else (here and not here) for being "mostly harmless," and... well -- just because I'm so insufferably NICE!Hug

maani, I had no intentions of being divisive. I was hoping to lure a few people back to the clan and give people a positive thread, a chance to say something cordial to those who make this an enjoyable place to spend some time.

Thanks to those who posted in good faith, you are the tops.

Not to mention yourself.  I don't mind being left off.  I got the point and it was a good one Danbo.

Peter, you get really sentimental when you get sleepy.

To everyone else who really contributes and cares about prog music

Idolisation? Ha! More like a pat on the back.  We spend too much time with pointless bitching and not nearly enough on joyous celebration. I'm thankful for this site, the music and the wonderful people who make the day brighter, especially in this horrid winter filled with floods, tsunamis, mud slides and blizzards.

For those who enjoy wallowing in the negative, I hope you have a good day, you need it.

I just like criticising

I'm with Maani (figuratively speaking, after all he's proposed to another!Cry).

All those listed, and those mentioned in this thread make the site what it is, a great place to be.

Given the precise nature of the question though, there is one I would single out. Dick Heath has a truly encyclopedic knowledge of the music he enjoys, and much more. I constantly find his posts essential reading. Dick doesn't participate to any great extent in the banter of the site, but given that the forum's first aim is to spread facilitate discussions about prog, Dick is the man!Clap

By the way, given that you can vote for yourself as often as you like, does a low score imply a satisfied ego?!LOL

Did anybody other than myself notice that you can VOTE AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT on this poll. I voted for Sigod like four times.
