I've seen Zep and The Doors, I think Jimi deserves a place in here. What do you think.

I don't know where you saw The Doors in the archives.

I disagree with the thought of Jimi Hendrix in prog archives. He is an amazing musician but does not have progressive rock elements. He does have progressive parts to his music. Also hthe inclusion of The Doors and Led Zeppelin puzzles me.

He rocked but he's not prog.

I don't hear any prog in his music... so he shouldn't be added

Though he's a great guitarplayer

we have a taste now in making legendary figures of rock as proto-prog or prog-related (no need to recall past fiascos, ey? Wink

I think Hendrix is one of the few personalities who entirely, entitedly defined, revolutionized, left a great footprint in the rock/etc. movement he approached. but progressive he is not entirely, entitedly.

Of course he should be added (as Prog Related)!
One of the most influential (if not the most influential) guitarist on the world, it's OBVIOUS that he influenced Prog! I'm surprised by some of the responses some people gave! Stern Smile

And with that username that's almost like Ritchie Blackmore saying that they shouldn't be here!

No. Not as a Prog artist, because he wasn't, but neither as a Prog Related or Proto Prog artist. He hasn't got enough in common with the Prog movement or influenced it enough to justify his inclusion.

Hendrix was a progressive heavy-blues musician but never did prog or even 'prog-related' music. Psychedelic, but not Prog. In fact, by the standards here at PA, Jeff Beck would be more prog if only because he was an important jazz-rock figure at one time.

hendrix is related to prog, psychedelia and jazzrock and the PA should acknowledge this in some way, but i'm not sure that the addition to the archive (even as PR) would be the proper one.
