It has been brought to my attention that a (meant to be humourous) poem I wrote and originally posted in the America thread, is "offensive."

In the end, does the poem offend you?

(I want a clear answer here -- no "yes and no" -- thus this poll has only two options.)

If a majority say "yes," I will delete it -- I wanted laughter, not enemies.

The poem, "Ode to My American Cousins," can be found in my Humour is Leaving Prog Archives thread, in the DNRTM section of the forum.

Please respond.

Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

Yes,it's terrible.

Never mind the ham shanks, it's an offence to all English speakers!

Rename it "Owed To My American Cousins" now that's a title for an ode..

It's not terrible. I liked the rhyming.

No. It's more offensive that some people in America are allowed to continue living and spreading hatred and bigotry (see my Muslim Congressman thread in the DNRTM forum).

I don't find it offensive, but I rarely find anything offensive so I'm not the best judge.

It didn't offend me, it just made me wince a little, mostly cause I knew it *would* offend some. That's why language, emphasis and inflection are so important. If you intended humor, I'm afraid it was easily lost.

SmileThank you for all the feedback, folks -- I considered it all.

Onward and upward -- life's a long song....

How's about closing this poll/chapter now, Mods? (It's done, thanks.)

Love to all,Hug

Love to Peter,

If you delete the poem, ir will not only delete some of the humour on  the archives, but also delete some of the offence taken by stupid people.

i like controversy, so keep it in, not because of the poem being offencive, but because of the reactions can be rather pleasing to my eyes.

still it is a stupid poem, only Peter Gabriel made  worse.

anywho never delete a word you write, unless you really consider them folly and wrong, or the deletion is deliberate for certain purposes.

Even if it would offend people, I'd like to keep a copy of it. Because I really like it.
