The worlds longest free piece of music in the internet

The longest free piece of music in the internet comes from the german rockband CALM WIZARDRY.

POEMS FROM THE PAST -written, composed and produced by Marco Göllner- is 74.41 minutes long and now ready for download on http://www.calmworld.de/ - www.calmworld.de .

With this offert the band will probably get an entry into the Guinnessbook of records.

The quintett releases with POEMS FROM THE PAST a conceptalbum in the style of Pink Floyd (The Wall), the early Genesis (Lamb lies down on broadway) or the early Marillion.

It tells the story about a man left by a woman. His pain, his fears, his thoughts and his way through the dullness back to life.

CALM WIZARDRY founded in 1989 still released some other albums, just this year the rock-pop-album PULL.

For the band the change from the 3 minutes popsong to the epic musictheatre, conceptalbum, radio-music-play, rockopera – whatever you call it- is a change back to their early progressive roots.

CALM WIZARDRY already played an early version of POEMS in 1992.

A demo followed. Then in 1998 they turned to the complex recordings of POEMS in the Jam-Factory-Studios in Bielefeld, NRW, Germany.

Since then the band worked on it again and again through the years – because everyone got a job and they only do their music in sparetime for hobby – so that now in 2006 their masterpiece is ready for release.

Producer Marco Göllner – even member of the band – works beside music as an actor, author and producer in radioplays. This year he was honoured with the german radioplay-award for “best single radioplay” for his production “Öffne die Tür/Open the Door”.

Following the future the band decided: when noone is willing to pay for music anymore, the music will be given away – for free – as a download (128 kBit/s) in the internet.

Shure you can also get it on a CD in 44.1 kHz quality. But then it costs money.

For more information about the band or the conceptalbum join them on http://www.calmworld.de/ - www.calmworld.de or write them at mailto:[email protected] - [email protected] .

A concert is not one piece of music

^ ok, I know.

The longest I can think of right now is Echolyn's Mei - about 40 minutes. But I don't see why there shouldn't be longer pieces - 74 minutes is the typical length of an extended CD, nothing stops bands from creating mixes that are longer than that artificial limit ...

Length doesn´t say anything about quality, does it?

So, it´s just music! And it´s free for you to hear. And if you like Pink Floyd or some others as said above, you can listen to it.
And if you don´t like it, send to someone you hate.
Merry Christmas from Germany!

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

Right-click and go to "save link as" or "save target as" and tell it where to put the file.
