Not sure whether this is the right thread but thought I'd just mention...

PFM's new album " ../Progressive_rock_discography_CD.asp?cd_id=13442 - Stati di immaginazione " shows 2 ratings but no reviews appear. I know at least one review was deleted as it related to a live concert of these works last year and not the CD/DVD issue itself, which only came out on Friday. It seems kind of strange though to see a high rating without any justification or explanation. I was kind of keen to see whether my decision to buy it (already on order) was a wise move or an act of purest folly

Either ..... they are reviews which are too short for display  ..... or ..... the site allows you to rate an album without reviewing it

Cheers Joolz- hadn't realised you could rate without review. I'm a relative newbie!

Yes,it is because the album has no review accompanying it just a couple of ratings.

The Admin Team is not particualrly happy with this practice and would rather everyone wrote a review rather than just gave a meaningless rating.

A limitation of the software?  The ability to rate without reviewing does seem a bit open. Not a feature I intend to explore, rest assured.

It is deliberate though. The intention is to make the site as open to all as possible People who do not speak English, or are uncomfortable writing reviews, can participate in the site by rating albums.

The overall ratings calculations are weighted to give less emphasis to ratings without reviews.
