I finally found my forum activation buried in my junk e-mail! It's been
months of only reading posts, not being able to post myself. So yes,
I'm new here, but I am familiar with forums and I know the thing we all
hate the most is new members posting the "Hi everyone! Whats your
favourite band???" topics, so I'll actually make this one worth
something. What instruments do you all play? I've played the drums for about 5 years, and I took up bass a month ago. I also plan to learn something uncommon, like harp, before I die. |

I've been playing drums for about 10 and a half years (my one true passion), picked up keys a few years back, and will probably pick up guitar and/or bass in the near future. -------------

well well seeing alot of drummers here and guess what i'm one of them started out playing percussion when i was 12 but picked up drumset when i turned 15 and i've been playing close to 6-7 years now. I tried to play acoustic guitar one time but I sucked at it real bad so thank God for drums. ------------- Carry On My Wayward Son |

Not really as much lately, but French Horn, Trumpet, and Piano. I have also played percussion before, and dabbled with the Oboe and Violin.

Mainly guitar and mandola but as of yesterday you can add keyboards to that list, got a Roland electric piano from the early 80s on eBay for £30

I'm a singer but I also play saxophone and all wind instruments and some keyboard - my father was a church organist, so I do have a bit of a thing for them! Would love to do it for a living but everyone in my town seems to want to make nu-metal, and my ker-ay-zee makeup doesn't appeal to them. Woe!  |

| I play bass, and a little guitar aswell every now and then. Acoustic guitar, but I have an electric aswell (I use it to make weird noises with). I might try learning some interesting woodwind instrument, such as bassoon or bass clarinet. |

| Phileas - Cor Anglais is an amazing instrument, and sadly quite overlooked these days. Most Oboists just double up on it. It's expensive but you can get some really interesting, haunting sounds out of it. |

I a so-so self-trained blues guitarist who's relearning some classical guitar and, more recently, been picking on some killer flamenco music... now that's a tough b*tch to learn
As for theory, I suck at reading while playing... but I have notions of musical theory, I took theory classes when I was a kid but didn't finish

In order of competence:
Guitar
Bass
Vocals
Percussion
Keyboards
Saxophone (Haven't touched one in 20 Years)
Here is about the only thing that I can give as an example...recorded over 10 years ago...I was in a very Satriani phase.....not perfect (I cringe in a few spots) but I was working alone with a Drum Machine (no drums were available) and a 4-track cassette....

I play the guitar, piano, and I used to play the violin. I'm so glad I stopped playing the violing; I understand theory so much better now. I'm getting pretty good on the guitar.
I can play as a modal guitarist or a blues guitarist. I've made some pretty cool post-rock, too. -------------

I play a tiny bit of guitar (self taught and learning very slowly), have been playing the piano for about 9 years now. Next stop (2-3 weeks from now) at the music store will hopefully result in a jazz bass.

Guitars (6, 7, 12 strings) Some electric, some acoustic. Heavily into guitar synths (I run a Novation 'A' Station off the MIDI output of my Roland GR33.
Would love to play keyboards. Wife is a piano teacher. Trouble is I really want to be a virtuoso NOW and not have to fiddle around with one-handed versions of 3 Blind Mice first. One of these days I'll knuckle down and learn properly... |
