What's the best album?

I choose Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, although many come close to this quality (powerslave, number of the beast, dance of death, etc)

Actually it's Seventh Son of the Seventh Son (rediscovered it recently - brilliant album!), but voted for Somewhere in Time - just because no one has done it yet.

No doubt about it: Killers
A couple of others would be struggling there for second place.

I've not heard anything beyond 'Seventh Son' so didn't vote, but out of their first 6 albums my favourite would be 'The Number of the Beast' Good solid well played metal and with Clive Burr on the drums, whose style and sound I much prefer to Nicko McBrains. The Beast was in the days before Dickinsons voice began to go, and all that awful warbling started too.

I thought they were better as a straight forward metal band, than as a 'clever' prog metal band.

Sorry, but where's "Live After Death"? I think that it's not only a great IM-album, but one of the best live recordings of all time.

oh sorry, I just wanted to put studio albums, just like the poll question states:

"What's Iron Maiden's best studio album?"

Life After Death is really a great live recording for sure.

My favorites are :

Killers
Iron Maiden
The Number of the Beast
Somewhere in Time
Piece of Mind

Killers is a largely underrated album with epic metal progressive songs. Absolutely Rocks !
No fillers, all killers !

^^^^^^^
I love Killers,it's such a great album.I bought their debut as a teenager right after it came out and was really impressed with them, but it was when Killers was released that I knew this band was something special.

If I had to do a Maiden top 5...

Powerslave
Piece of Mind
Killers
Number of the Beast
Seventh son of a Seventh Son

I find it strange that not many people mentioned Piece of Mind, besides containing a lot of great tracks, the production and sound on that album is superb.McBrain's drumming and Harris' bass playing are so in your face,I love it.

Piece of Mind is the quintessential Iron Maiden album.

Piece of Mind was my first album that I bought so I've always had a soft spot for that one. Although Somewhere in Time was awesome as well.

Voted for Piece of Mind

Musically, I agree with your statement.  Vocally, it's another story.  I think it was near the end of the tour they recorded it, and Bruce sounds worn out.  Almost never on pitch, and that irritates me a lot, as he is flawless on studio albums.
