True, but Steve Howe is much better composer and his weak voice very fit to do backing vocals, and you can't have third good singer, when you have Jon and Chris in a band - it would be simply overloaded, even in Yes terms. ------------- yet you still have time! |

Steve Howe is after all a wonderful guitarrist. And much better - generally and for Yes - than Rabin. I think question of their vocals has no meaning.  |

Uuu though one...on one hand you got Rabin, who was in some of Yes poorest albums and certainly their least prog...he never did anything that impresses me... but on the other you got Howe, which for me was love at first sight (the guitar playing!!! the other kind of love at first dsight with Howe...must be difficult) he is one of my favorites in the axe, a great composer, has co writen with Anderson much of Yes best material and plays my favorite kind of guitars... mmm...I will have to think about it a little more ------------- "You want me to play what, Robert?"

Got to go with Howe here. True, his voice is chronic, but that shouldn't be the issue here. He is the definitive Yes guitarist. Rabin does nothing for me. Bland and poppy.
I am very surprised Howe is losing this one.

Trevor Rabin shouldn't be underestimated; he's a fine musician and a good composer. For the purposes of a progressive rock poll however, Howe is the man. And the reason that Rabin is winning in this poll is that it allows multiple votes.... so we have a rabid Rabin fan!  ------------- A dog is for lunch and not just for breakfast |

^ Same thing happened a few months ago with a VdGG poll. World Record had like 80% of the vote, but only cause some loser voted for it 70 times.

without them, both band would have stopped excisting in th 80's.
I like both rabin as Steve Howe, both revolutionised the Yes Sound.
naturally Howe's revolution resulted in The Yes album, Close To The edge, Relayer, and Tales from topographic Oceans.
Rabin only played on two good, and two bad albums.

| Steve Howe of course. Not that Rabin was a bad guitarist, but it did not sound like Yes when he was in the band. Besides, how are you supposed to fill Howe's shoes in the first place? He was able to fill Banks' shoes with ease like David Gilmour replacing Barret. Howe is just irreplaceable at this point. |

Great poll! Great guitarists! I love Howe's early work so much.. from TYA to GFTO, even Drama. He is maestro of classical guitar and guitar pioneer of prog-rock. I love all the work of Rabin in Yes. Extra, he is far better singer, composer, producer, great keyboard player and his guitar technique is more technically demanding (for me as a guitarist) and he is unique and interesting as Howe is imo. My vote goes to Trevor. |
