What do you think of Sting?
I thought he was OK with The Police, but lately he seems to be an arrogant know it all.
I really canīt stomach the guy, maybe you feel differently...

I like Sting's music, & I liked the Police as well.
I think he is reacting to what he hears via the radio/TV, etc -- the popular stuff. The "scene." As such, his observations are surely not unfounded.
I'm pretty sure that if he were asked to clarify, Sting would acknowlege that some good, original music, (besides just his own) continues to be made (if not heard by the masses). In any case, if the man finds modern rock on the whole to be boring, then he has every right to that opinion. I take no offense at his remark, and he singles out no artist.
Why take offense at someone who is merely telling you how they feel?
I will now tell you a personal truth: I don't like much modern metal. For me, it is very grating, and ultimately, boring. I can't identify with the music, the lyrics, or the image. It has no appeal for me. That's just the way I am.
Note that I have insulted no one -- I wish all metal fans the pleasure of their favourite music. It's okay if we don't all like the same art -- we are diverse, and that's why art is diverse as well. It's not worth getting worked up about: it's just music -- not politics or religion.

Do you dislike the man, his music, or both? (I think you are referring to his music.) He's a culture headcase. He probably doesn't explore too much modern rock music.

I have a lot of sympathy for his opinion, but I'd also gladly point Mr. Sumner to some very good, modern rock. As we prog fans know only too well, the good stuff is out there -- you just have to know where to look, because you sure won't hear it on the radio.

You're right about having to look for music. I have only heard a progressive song a few times on the radio because it was Pink Floyd. Surprisingly, I heard Rush on the radio once, but the only problem was that it was not introduced to the crowd. That really bugs me because sometimes I hear a song that sounds good but have no idea who it is.
