One of the original Canterbury founders, but one who has maintained a 
very low profile in the music world - I believe became a graduate
biochemist instead - unofficial historian and archivist for Soft
Machin
e, Brian Hopper has just written me to announced his second solo
album.
Just Desserts will be issued in the next month, via prog and ambient
specialist distributors Burning Shed Records. Brian has made Just
Desserts
in partnership with guitarist Robert Fenner, and describes the music "as building on the ambient
and ethnic influences of our previous release Virtuality - released by
Voiceprint Records - but features a stronger rhythmic base than
before".

Brian's light touch jazzy prog saxophone is much in evidence - indeed
here I would suggest Brian and Robert expand the territory beyond which
Canterbury musicans are known. Brian played in Wilde Flowers, and then
played sax for Soft Machine for their seminal album Volume 2.
He also wrote a number of the early Soft's classic tuness
