Anybody catch the Zappa documentary of Radio 4 this morning at 10.30am, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of Freak Out? Germaine Grear narrated, and presumely wrote this fairly interesting piece about Zappa the complete musician - although her over plummy French name pronounceations, were slightly amiss from her Anglo Oz accent.  Dweezil and Vai appeared.  I've just relisteneded to it as the webcast version found on BBC Radio 4 website.  Grear says she will have G Spot Tornado played at her funeral - interestingly a good (and to me unknown)  orchestral version was played, I think by the Britten Sinphonia - must be a BBC recordiing, since I can't find it on Amazon.

Yes I listened to the webcast on the train the other day.  Quite interesting and well researched.  I wished that it had been a lot longer.

He had some interesting comments on the professionialism and sobriety of English orchestras.

When people get lost in thought it's often because it's unfamiliar territory.
