Now that the BG fans among you have had time to digest their latest opus, which is your favourite of their later works??  I'm going to go for ANATO, because despite its excesses, there are some damn fine tunes on it....Clap

1. Nightfall in Middle-Earth
2. Imaginations from the Other Side
3. A Night at the Opera
4. A Twist in the Myth

But I might just buy the nice vinyl edition of A Twist in the Myth.Embarrassed

Nightfall. For me it seems somewhat less 'polluted' than ANATO. After Nightfall I would put in preference order:

Somewhere far Beyond (not prog, but fine tunes too, and overall it has a more 'clean' sound),
Imaginations,
ANATO,
A Twist in the Myth (I do need to listen more to this, couldn't get into it yet).

Quite. It's not a picture disc though ... a local store in my town carries the picture disc of Nightfall. Perhaps I'll trade in my CD for it ... Big smile

^^^ Mike, I can't help feeling they'd stocked Nightfall, knowing that sooner or later your resistance would break, and you'd be in for it...LOL

On the subject of ANATO, I'm not at all surprised that mine is the only vote for it.  You're right it is cluttered, but that's part of the charm for me; I only play Nightfall occasionally these days, but for some reason, I just don't seam to get bored of ANATO..Confused... go figure...

^ I think all these albums are quite good ... I also listen to ANATO every once in a while. I wouldn't call it "cluttered" ... more like "overproduced". And especially the epic is not *that* much more progressive than the stuff on Nightfall.

A Night at the Opera

and that's actually ONLY because of the magnificent "And then there was Silence" opus...

"A Night At The Opera" is awesome prog metal with obvious Queen influences. It contains their best epic too.

My vote goes to A Night At The Opera, just because it's so incredibly epic and never lets up, which is exactly what I want out of power metal. Nightfall is great, as is Somewhere Far Beyond. I'm just starting to get into their new one, but I doubt I'll ever like it as much as their other stuff.

A Night At The Opera.

truly amazing album. alienated all the hardcore power metal fans, but got more prog fans as well.

still haven't heard A Twist In The Myth, but of what i've heard, sounds good.
