I just thought it would be fun to know who plays what in this forum.  This thread could also be fun as a place to discuss our instrument with others who play that instrument.  I play drums and piano.  I take both quite seriously and practice both pretty often and vigorously.

And you?

I'm primarily a guitarist. I've got an Ibanez Gio and an Epiphone "Basher" LP, in addition to a Washburn acoustic 12-string. Primarily, I play the Washburn simply because 12-string guitars make me grin like an idiot. I've also been known to sing from time to time.

Piano: Studied some years but didn't had the patience or maybe the talent.
Drums: That is where I was strong, played in amateit¿r bands but the University got in the moiddel of my career.
Quena: A few months ago I started to learn the pentaphonic peruvian wooden flute and I'm advancing very fast, it's simple and melancholic, very sweet instrument.

Well, I wanted to be like my progressive hero, so I started playing, er, the recorder. I've taught myself some parts of Thick as a Brick, Aqualung, Locomotive Breath, Solsbury Hil...um, and many more.

But, on top of that, I play (classical) guitar, ukelele (I'm quite good at that, they tell me), and I'm one hell of a whistler (now THAT was inspiried by Ian).

I play classical guitar, I have had one year lessons when I was at about 20 years old (I am from 1960). Ten years ago I had 10 flamenco guitar lessons because flamenco is my passion and now I can play a little bit but I am happy with that Approve I am on the brink of buying a Western guitar, mainly because of the sound while playing rhythm guitar. I also play a few chords on the piano because I love the sound of the Grand piano Heart it's so warm and expressive, you can put so much from yourself in it (unfortunately I miss the skills to do that ..)

People that can play the organ really impress me.  Now, playing a keyboard with an electric organ sound is one thing, but playing the real Hammond organ with two sets of keys and foot pedals--that's very impressive.  Real Hammond Organs cost a whole lot of money, though...

         WEM ER40 head with 1 x 12" H/H PA cabinet

Real Hammond organs are really expensive - but Technics made affordable ones, and I had one of those. BTW: It's not that complicated ... you're playing three different "sequences" simultaneously, but usually the bass and left hand are arranged so that they're not "interfering", and decoupling the right hand from the left hand is something that "normal" keyboard/piano players also learn.

Once a member of the Dutch Hammond organ society invited me to his store where kept his collection: 2 B3's, a C3, a L100 and M100 and two Leslie boxes, incredible! Only pushing the start button is already a sensation, it reminded me of Pictures At An Exhibition by ELP. I was allowed to play a little bit on it (with my 3 chord knowledge LOL ), what a powerful and distinctive sound and what a fun to switch the drawbars, an unforgettable experience. Once I hope to buy a Vintage Sound Module with great Hammond sounds Approve

My current rig is:

Alesis Fusion 8HD (88 Note Hammer action mega-synth)
E-MU Proteus PK6 - With Vintage, Ensoniq and Orchestral expansion ROMs
and my lovely Korg Prophecy mono-synth.Cool

I also have a Honer Pianet electric piano (which I've owned for nearly 30 years), An ailing 20 year old Yamaha Clavinova (which I can't bring myself to part with because it was my wife's first Christmas presie and cost her a LOT back when we were poor newlyweds!. ) and Casio VZ1 (The last real pro synth from Casio from the 80s), but the pianet is in permanent retirement and the VZ is is in semi retirement (It will be fully retired once I've sampled all my favorite patches  into the Fusion)

I suppose I should mention the handful of virtual instruments I use too, the EMU Emulator X soft sampler, The amazing Garritan Personal Orchestra orchestral library, Slayer virtual guitar, and a great little freebie Hammond emulation called NuBi. (I have a whole bunch more VSTi instruments, but they don't really get much use!)

My big wish is for a real Hammond B or C3 if (a) I could afford one, and (b) had the room for it (Those things are huge).  I may save may pennies for a Hammond XK3 which is the best Hammond emulation I've tried to date.

Oh here's some pics of the studio showing the toys:

Special note should be taken of the cunning liquid sound dispersion panel next to my wife's guitar on the far left LOL! (Never get thirsty recording in my studio!)

I'm a classically trained cellist, was grade 8 at one point, I've played Bass and Keyboards in bands over the years and also some guitar on studio recordings and for songwriting. I did a soundtrack for a film last year on which I played all the instruments. I make and repair stringed instruments for a living and I own eleven guitars, eight keyboard instruments and at the moment probably about eighty or so violins, violas and cellos. Oh, and one double bass!

It's actually a bit like driving - all 4 limbs working at the same time; they're not too expensive actually - I've a 1971 L122 & Leslie 145 cabinet & together, they cost around £600 (mind you, if you go for a C3 or B3, that's where the expense really comes in)

I play guitar and flute. I can play a passable keyboard and I wish I had more time to learn about midi.

I used to play harmonica while playing guitar (yes, deep down, I'm a folkie). Then one day I realized the world is filled with people playing their harmonicas... badly.

I'm currently building guitars and I have several projects on the go. I have an octave XII almost finished. I'm putting the finishing touches on a telecaster.

I'm excited as I recently jumped at the chance to get an acoustic bass neck for real cheap. I've got a 12 string body that I've had for a while. You know how an acoustic neck on a 12 string body will sound like (probably sound like crap). I'm going to play it until I get better and then invest in a decent bass.

Classical piano for 5 years.
Then contemporary for 2 years... I think.
Then contemporary and classical for 1 year (that was great).
Now it's just classical.

I also play guitar but suck at it and never had lessons.

I want to play flute because my grandparents did and we still have one hidden somewhere.

I also sing, but it doesn't always sound pretty.
