Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare (NCCP) is an Italian band that is specialized in playing and composing Folk songs from the 'Campania' region with the capital Naples as his most famous example. NCCP exist since 1970 and have recorded since then over ten records. 'Incanto Acustico' is a live record from a 1996 Italian Tour and gives a good idea of the band and their music, brillant 'Campania' folk with Napolitain dialect vocals (apprently even hard for non-Napolitain Italians to understand.) My favourite tunes are the traditonals but their own compositions are excellent as well. The arrangements are great, with chordal instruments dominating (guitar, mandolin, violin) + recorders percussion and bass. The multipart vocals are stunning and the tricky, syncopated rhythm of some of the dance tunes is nearly Prog. If you like Folk you might want to check them out.

I know NCCP's work quite well, and love it. I also saw them live twice, the second when they were performing Roberto De Simone's folk opera "La Gatta Cenerentola", inspired by Giambattista Basile's tale. The site http://www.italianprog.com%20 - www.italianprog.com lists them too, even if it's stressed that they played progressive music as opposed to progressive rock. I personally think they could be taken into consideration for inclusion in PA, but of course Hugues' opinion is what counts in this respect.
