Hey all, I just bought a new synth: Roland RS-5, (couldn't afford the S-9), I really wanted an Arturia CS-80V, but couldn't find one, (only the emulator). I can't wait until it comes in the post and I can start messing around with it. Does anyone have any experience with it?

squirrel - CS80 by Arturia is a software emulaiton only they don't make a hardware version.

It's an emulation of the classic late 70s Yamaha CS80,which was much favoured by Vangelis - you can hear it all over the Bladerunner soundtrack. The original Yamaha keyboard version weighed about 2 tons and cost a small fortune ($5000 or more in the late 70s which must be about $25k in today's money) and while stable was a beast to lug around.

Arturia's software model is indeed an awesome recreation and extraordinary value at a couple of hundred buck. it's a cpu-hungry monster though.

As for the hardware Yamaha - good luck finding one and good luck convincing your parents to let you keep it in the house!

Not heard the roland but congratulations and well may you wear it!

That's probably why I could only find the emulator then...
