As some may have seen there is a disscussion on this in the DNRTM at the moment but it appears that only Tony and the VR regulars are taking part. I particularly want the views of members that dont participate in the VR and of our newer members on what their opinion is on this thread.
If you can think of other suggestions as well, let us know.

Make it the homepage.
Just kidding. Yeah, either option 1 or 3, the first one I like the most because it makes it more convenient to enter the vroom and ulk away furiously for me under the triumphant laughs of the chineses for me.

I voted number 3. Other than that, I don't really care if it's moved or not. I definitely think it shouldn't appear on the active thread list, though.

I think it should be moved to Just for Fun.
While discussions dont have to be about be music, it can be if anyone wants. It's just for whatever....so I voted for option 2.
As for the last 10 list, I really don't care either way

Some people think that it might have a negative impact on thee site if the VR constantly appears on that list, hence the option and the original start of this topic.

How about a top 10 latest posts for the rest of the forum and a top 10 latest posts for the velvet room?
Seriously, keep the VR where it is, but don't let it appear in the top 10 latest posts chart. I think that would be good.

Of course, I have also been hoping for an overall increase in the level of interest/intelligence/wit in ALL forum areas. (Is declining quality the "wages of success?") The pointless "X vs Y" polls, etc. can be especially tiresome. I wish some people would post less, but have more of substance to say.
(Well, I can dream.)
I also despise reviews that are written solely to "redress" another, or to manipulate the ratings. That is very, very childish behaviour!
We need more quality, not quantity -- maybe, once someone has attained over, say, 4000 posts, their post count could simply read "> 4000" or "4000+"
That might stop some more newcomers from thinking that one's "status" here is all about massive post counts, and some people might even get some fresh air, or even talk to someone who is actually near them.

I wouldn't be opposed to such an idea, but except for maybe the newest members who get heavily into posting, post counts are paid little attention. It's more of a "Oh damn....i just passed 16000 posts...." sort of thing. No one actively cares about it.

Perhaps, Stone's Beard, perhaps....
But did we not, until very recently, have people posting special announcements when they attained posting "milestones," (and thanking lists of those who'd "helped" them reach those numbers) and people responding with "way to go!" "congratulations!" etc?
Did we not regularly see posts like "You'll soon pass me" or "you'll never pass me" in the not-too-distant past?
Why all that, if no one attaches any signifigance to post counts, hmmmmm?
(BTW: Please, don't you or any other Velvet Gangsters get your knickers in a knot over this: a little bird told me that my idea won't become reality, anyway, so I'm really just debating for the sake of it now.)
I find it odd that those with the highest post counts attained in the shortest time here should suddenly, en masse, maintain that post counts don't matter to them....
Convenient, that "sea change" -- pull the other one!
Perhaps you should say "No one (who has attained 12000+ posts) actively cares about it any more."
I bet next month's model of NOOB will care -- as you seem to imply....
Anyway, this was stimulating.
Peace go with you...
as someone else might say!

It's all in the past, past, past!!!
Someday everyone has to realize that post counts don't mean a thing and most of us velveteers have realized that summer 2005. It's just embarrassing now.
BUT the more you post, the more you get attached to the place and the people ===> and you post even more.

Indeed, we're way past that phase, it was a 'trend' back in the days(remember the Some People Post Way Too Much thread?)
Do you really think that me or Blowie or Cyg would want even more?

You're misunderstanding... I think there's nothing wrong with celebrating your first 1000, many mature members here have done it. It's just a time that marks your forum seniority to, and people want to say thanks to all who made this a pleasant experience - nothing wrong with that as far as I see it; they're not 'z0mg im proud of my post count' threads.

In the average forum post?
Let's play the word game, then post some lists of albums, sans any sort of commentary.

Now that is stoopus - you should be boycotting the brainless JFF games instead of the VR since they are the most pointless post count raisers, though not as visible.

Exactly! That was sarcasm, Miracle -- hence the "."
Your lack of a wink, however, would seem to indicate that you were serious in thinking I was serious....

I voted for option 3.
As I said in my first post in this poll, closing it would not be right. Diologue and input with various VR "frequent flyers" led to my initial position rapidly evolving (the very night I first raised the issue).
I actually do consider the input and feelings of others -- my opinions and positions can and do change.
Of course, as a gentleman, you will delete your angry and unjustified reference to my name, above.

As a gentleman, I would mention the sarcasm in my tone; obviously, I was merely implying that you always get happy about mentioning some un-releavant thing about the Velvet Room. All in a good fun, even the who and the angry face.

Ah.....
Sarcasm does not come across well in print. That is why I like to retain the services of this mischievious little fellow (), when I want to indicate sarcasm or speaking with "tongue in cheek."
Silly me to mistake the employment of a large "angry" emoticon as an indicator of actual anger....
And is the Velvet Room really ever un-releavantirrelevant?Gasp!->

much too simple for my common taste...
as for the last line, it's much too late over here to contradict you, I'm and all; so I'll agree that it's irrelevant.
