I like the feature that you can see the last 10 or so posts on the
forum to see what is currently active. Unfortunately, often 6-8 of
those 10 are in the Velvet Room. I am sure people have a lot of fun
there, but would it be possible to exclude that topic somehow from the
list of recent posts?

Mate, it's the simplest thing of who "just posted". (by that, we constantly talk  )The "Active Topics" facility is also available and from what you want it's the perfect way to see the latest posts. I myself always stay on the Active Topics page when I'm not in any topic. (part defending the vROOM, but part thinking that there isn't a way the mechanism can exclude a topic) -------------
