Aside from collecting music, I spent most of my free time searching from miniature plastic or metalic toys. Most of them are ment to be used in birthdays, as "surprise" (a tiny pakage of paper, containig candy and the kind of toys I'm mentioning, wich are the aim of my collection). I don't know if this is familiar to people on other countries. Anyway, I have boxes filled with tiny figures, wich include really weird items, like a plastic lion - medic. ¿You?

I get die cast models of super/race cars in both 1/43rd and 1/18th scale. I only have about 12 as they take up a lot of space and can get expensive (hand made, signed models can reach a couple of hundred £'s, hand made, one off, 1/8th scale mosels I've seen go for the best part of £5000!).

I collect Trading Cards [Magic: The Gathering; Star Trek, Babylon 5 and Art Cards] as well as Star Trek memorabilia. I also have a an interest in collecting die-cast WWII aeroplanes and models. My collecting mania started when I was quite small with Postal Stamps. Now collecting is a hobby and an addiction which can get very expensive!!

Call me an anorak I don't care, but i think Football program collections and model railways are more nerdy!!LOL  some famous rock stars are model railway enthusiasts or have the most mundane hobbies.... i have a huge collection of British Victorian and commonwealth stamps, and an early USA collection up to the 60's, but i also specialise in line engraved issues, stamps in general are an extension of my interest in history and art.  i'm sure when Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are dead Britain will issue Beatles stamps....you have to be dead to be depicted on a British stamp... unless you're Royalty of course!

I certainly do not start collection of anything in order to make a collection.

These (mine anyway) accumulations of records and books eventually become collections, I suppose, but cerainly not started or even later on pursued with the motive of building a collection.

I just collected a few beer coaster in the early 90's because I thought they looked cool, and all a sudden everyone of my friends started collecting them for me, but that was not my intention at the start

Etc...

Australian:

I have an original Return of the Jedi poster signed by (among others) Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Billy Dee Williams, James Earl Jones, David Prowse, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Jeremy Bulloch, Richard LaParmentier, Paul Blake, Julian Glover, Michael Sheard, Bruce Boa, Warwick Davis et al?  Every autograph was obtained personally by me, and the poster provenance is listed with You Gotta Have It, the #1 autograph house in the U.S.  So...how much do I hear offered?  LOL.  I also have every single Star Wars book published.

Re my own collections, I was, at one time, among the three largest collectors of Bondiana in the U.S.  At one time, I had first editions of 85% of Ian Fleming's novels (both British and American editions), and first editions of 100% of John Gardner's Bond novels (both British and American editions).  Two of my Ian Fleming's (you Only Live Twice and Thunderball) were autographed by Sean Connery and Lois Maxwell, and my British first of On Her Majesty's Secret Service was autographed by George Lazenby.  I sold the entire collection in 2003 for many thousands of dollars.

I also have a quite a collection of (don't laugh, now...) demitasse cups and saucers from all over the world.  And like many here, I also collect books of various types.  My children's book collection is fairly extensive (including old books and first editions), and my art book collection is also broad.

Peace.

The original Star Wars figures seem to me to be much more genuine, they have that vintage character. One of my uncles collects comics, he has literally thousands all sitting in boxes in several different people's houses, I have spent many days reading through his collection.

I'm a big collector of British action/adventure TV shows from the 60s and 70s on DVD. My favourites are The Professionals, The Sweeney, The Avengers/ The New Avengers, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Lovejoy, Minder, Doctor Who, The Prisoner, Department S, The Champions, Randall and Hopkirk Deceased.

Also, have a ton of Westerns, 60s and 70s action films (Clint Eastwood/Charles Bronson etc.) and Kung Fu films, though the latter of those I've gone off slightly in favour of cult TV, a far more entertaining endeavour imo.Smile

That cat skull is scary, I've seen it!

Erm... well I'm maybe a bit sadder... or used to be, until I realised how sad I was!

I used to firstly collect Lledo 1930s cars and even had some from Walkers Crisps and some other ones I sent off for.  I soon stopped that!

Then I somehow got into EFE and Corgi model buses... very peculiar!  I still have all these and my model bus collection is worth around £300 or more.

But before all that, I was heavily interested in plastic aircraft model kits and I have some rare Czech made models of 1930s Luftwaffe aircraft, which are still boxed.

Oh and I also have a couple of OO guage trains that I bought when my dad had his model railway.  Again, I still have them.

Friede and I collect malt whiskies. unfortunately the collection keeps dwindling all the time, no matter how much we collect. not that we drink that much, but there are only 35 drinks in a 0.7 l bottle, so even at our current quota of one drink per person and evening almost two bottles get emptied per month. and malt whisky is expensive.
oh, and we have quite an impressive library too
