Just bought a new Dell Dimension XPS system customized for ultimate music experience.

Its not so ultimate right now, because I tried to get my M-Tron running with it and the sound came out like sh*te.

The songs on Windows Media are working fine, but now I am in the Creative X-Fi sound Console for Audio and i have no clue what to do, my surround sound doesnt work anymore its only coming through two speakers, and its because I switched something but I dont know how this damn thing works!!

Any help on all these "midi-in/out" crazy options and stuff with this sound card?

UPDATE:

Disregard the top.

When I go to the Creative Entertainment Mode, it is PHENOMINAL with windows media, blows me away when I listen to music.

But when i try to play M-Tron, it is barely recognizable and is just awful sounding.

M-Tron is also, only coming through the front speakers and not the surround sound 4 other speakers that Windows Media plays through.

What do i do, any suggestions?!?!

I guess there aren't many people who know what an M-Tron is - I'm one of them.Wink

its the software for PCs of the Mellotron sounds.  for midi controller keyboards, so you can play the mellotron on your PC Wink

My mini-moog V software works GREAT but M-Tron sounds like crap!

Why do you need it to play through more speakers? If it's only a stereo driver it won't sound any better coming through in surround. To be frank surround sound is basically pointless for listening to anything but DVD or SACD. And gaming, I guess.

Goose, you are wrong my friend!!!  I have the surround sound set up and it makes my music sound 10,000 times better!!

I put on Awaken by YES to test it out and by god it is fantastic.

Anyways, the Mini-Moog V uses surround sound also for its echo effect which it does perfectly...guess it is made for the surround sound capablities.

I don't care what M-Tron goes through, but it doesnt give me any options!  It just say "front L/R"....which Minimoog V says also, but Minimoog V actually SOUNDS right!

What else could be causing this problem?  It just sounds so ridiculously scratchy and crappy, but it is in the key range of the notes and all...just not "choir" or "strings" more like "dog ****"

I un-installed and re-installed it, could it have anything to do with the RTAS I had to install for it?  VST was the only thing they asked to install for Mini Moog...but what is RTAS?

you could have it set up wrong, try checking out the program routing...

BTW i ended up getting Propellerhead Reason's "Mello-T" refill a lot cheaper, and it works very well through the midi controller. i have it linked in to my hi-fi system and sounds brilliant!

Those software keyboard programs can be tricky - maybe you need a MIDI loopback driver like Hubi's?
