I thought it would be really nice to have a thread where all of us could just post about our general day to day lives. With a whole forum dedicated to music, I think this would be a great way to relieve the tension. NO MUSIC DISCUSSION HERE!!!! Anyways, my day was great. I got off of work early, and rehearsed with my band. It felt great to just relieve the work stress I've had lately. I feel great now.  -------------

It's not exciting, it's relaxing though. Working 10 hours a day makes you appreciate your precious time at a PC. -------------

Today i woke up at 8am as usual, had breakfast a shower... went to buy my new mobile phone...then to the work when i also sat at the computer to check info about racing and mails and stuff like that, then i went to my poor english class which was cancelled for today because of light reasons... now im here... ------------- Follow me on twitter @memowakeman |

I was down the shore until yesterday which I spent helping my girlfriend with her calculus assignments. I work all day as an engineering manager, attend two colleges at night, and shuttle my three sons back and forth to football (pads and helmuts, not shorts and hot wives), swimming, band, orchestra, cross-country, and - oh yeah, school.

this is gonna be hard...
well. let's see....my mom fell at the airshow today. apparently, there was an uneven sidewalk and she tripped on a 5 inch bit sticking up. she got a black eye, cuts, bruises on her shoulder...looks more like she fell off of one of the planes...
she just turned 60 last month...i think i'm gonna buy her a crash helmet for christmas
the dogs consumed part of a small bottle of baby oil yesterday
my mentoring ends on tuesday.... -------------

Man, you have to be a numerical monster to understand calculus. It just seems like it combines so many mathematical technqiues it makes my head spin. I don't know how you math guys do what you do. -------------

My Life: Get up Feed, burp, change the baby. Work. Come home, feed, burp, change the baby. Feedings every 4 hours (and yes, that means overnight). Repeat. In between, I try to sleep, eat, post on PA/listen to tunes (mostly at work), and oh yeah, say hi to my wife every now and then and remember we had a relationship at one point that wasn't mommy and daddy. As cynical as that sounds, actually life is really great. No complaints. |

Spent most of my day infront of a computer screen as well....but I've really been trying to change that, like going for walks, or drives. I like walking 7:30-8:00 when it's still light out but darkness is just starting to set in, the clouds are all orange and purple....
Besides that, I've been getting ready for college. Finishing that book I have to read, getting stuff for my dorm, BEGINNING to pack, oh and learning how to cook, (at least enough to ya know, survive).

I was hoping to be a teacher, but the only level I can meet the qualifications for my field will be college. They discontinued the secondary-education component for Philosophy Majors. -------------

Looks like the velveteers are conquering new territories.
I Helped out at my temple today. We are getting ready for a huge fundraising yard sale. With a major university here, there is a big turnover at the end of the summer. People just put all sorts of things on the street, rather than move them. We grab the good stuff, and sell it. We also get a lot of donated items. The back yard looks like a furniture clearance center. I spent the rest of the day working on a project, and preparing for a weekend trip. ------------- a.k.a. Since I haven't had a job for the past two weeks, I spend my days at the house alone, trying not to spend too much money on stuff, waiting for school to start and spending a lot of time on PA (mostly the velevet room [go figure]). I've had some stuff to do the past few days, so that's nice.

My life not related to music? Well, these days it's pretty much sitting in front of my PC and trying to write or do translations - while posting nonsense (and the occasional intelligent response) on PA. Of course it also happens that I get to the kitchen to prepare something to eat (rarely, but it does happen), water the plants on the balcony, sit or lie down with a book, watch a DVD... though of course none of these things happen without a substantial musical accompaniment! Ah, and I sometimes go out too... Usually in the morning because of the heat, but these days I'd rather stay at home. In autumn and winter I definitely go out more. |

Thanks for asking Jim. He's almost 8 weeks old now, doing great, he has his cranky periods and about 9 PM every night throws a real fit (good screamer, must have inherited his mother's lungs ), but otherwise perfectly healthy, we're fattening him up quite nicely  |

My life outside of music... rather vanilla actually.... Work at one of the largest electrical contractors in the state... do everything for them.. estimating (have a talent for numbers) down to electrical work (have a talent for making my hair stand on end) Will be going back to school this spring to complete a life's dream and finish my degree.. that having been sidetracked by life.. Wait a minute...mickey has a job?
 BTW: I'm thinking about History too, but am beginning to stray. I want to be involved with "the now;" I'm a foreward thinking person really...."progressive" when you get down to it . The reason I'm leaning away from History is because one of the main things that interests me (or used to) is WW2, but I'm so opposed to war now that I'm beginning to loathe the subject. Also, I want to be constantly "in the know" and on the cutting edge of what's happening technology- and culture-wise, with a progressive job, and IMO teaching is quite the opposite: quite stagnant, especially in the subject of history. So I don't really know what I'm going to do. I was planning on getting the basic credits for college first anyway and then focusing on a major. oh yeah.. just gave her a work to side 1 of After Bathing at Baxter's she's a beauty. I had some pics taken but the dipsh*t who took them decided to not use the flash and they didint turn out. I'll get some more taken soon... I'm not near as good as honestly I used to be ... hmmm... just remember a great way to understand the now.. is to understand how we got to the now.... try to consider the situation in the middle east if you don't understand the history of it. I loved history... I took a class on South Asia (India/Pakistan) and it opened a whole new world to me and a different way of seeing things. Not sure yet, but my mother is a professor of communications at a university in town and has connections to a web of colleges that would offer me free tuition because of her status. I'm thinking about going to one of those for the first two years and seeing if I want to stay or go somewhere else. Who can argue against a free education? I do want to get out of Indiana, though. Good idea. My local county college offers 2 years free if you're in the top 20% of your class.
Oh I know the feeling....I was torn on staying home or going away. I like New Jersey....but I think I needed to get away from my NYC suburban town for a bit.

Man, that really is tough, best of luck to you, and make sure you don't work somewhere that is incredibly understaffed if you can avoid it. You will relate hate your job. My Office Depot is short. 1 manager with one manage leaving 2 techs with our only tech becoming a manager 3 stockers 2 cashiers that is really really really bad, but it's nice job security... -------------

I was enrolled in a PhD program about 18 months ago...then I said "F this, school sucks", quit my job, moved from suburban DC to suburban Philly, and had a kid. I may still try to go back to school, but my feeling right now is not bloody likely. |

Life, eh? Real non-music related life? Okay.
I have just finished the French courses and passed the exam(relatively well)today. My nerves are a bit shattered thanks to that, so I'll have to do nothing until school starts on the 4th of September. I need to relax. Besides that, nothing else really interesting. ------------- sig |

| The company I work for ( TNT Logistics ) has just been sold to a investors company called Apollo. Don't know what to expect for the future. Some say the company does some long term investments. Considering a work change, try for something completely different. |
