The sort approach UK TV channel 4 does was their continuous stream of top 100s. Get some pundits in a room, ask for a total of 150 nominations, post the list on your website, and only then allow the public to nominate one from the restricted list of 150 - this allowed Channel 4 to film about 150 short pieces, and still produce a 3hour plus TV programme only a few days after the poll was closed. However....... However, for a webpoll open to all in sundry, allowing the public to nominate from a short (incredibly short) personal list, smacks of patronising. Let's boycot it.
