Cigs invented by Lucifer. They are so cool, so satisfying, and
such a pleasure. And so deadly and addictive and offensive to
others. I am currently a non-smoker, having quit a year ago this
month, but not a day goes by when I fail to have the urge to buy a
pack....

If by the flesh of gods you mean what I think I mean, no... I've actually always steered clear of anything than might cause an addiction. I even drink coffee (which I don't particularly like) in moderation... I told you I was boring! I can't even drive a car, nor play a musical instrument... What are you waiting for to chuck me out of PA? Anyway, I might have some other hidden qualities that you'll never know of...

I used to smoke about a pack and 1/2 a day. After I stopped drinking, my consumption went way down. I quit completely about two years ago. I still enjoy a good cigar, but I only smoke about one, or two, a week. Cigs are are a tough one to kick. I would suggest using tactics similar to beating any addiction. Primarily, staying away from those that are smoking. Also, don't let your friends smoke in front of you.

Pretty much the same here, I quit for almost half a year, and now I'm back smoking again.

I used to smoke 60 a day. That was just on an average day. If I went out in the evening to the pub it would hit 90 and if I went to a club later I could add another 20.
I gave up over 7 years ago and havent touched one since.

It's progressive. I quit for two and half years started again and it wasn't 6 months before I was back to 2-3 packs a day. That lasted almost three years. Quit again two years ago August and I gained all sorts of weight too. Not sure what a stone is in lbs Tony but I have gained 35-40 lbs in two years.

On average, 5-10 a day (but I don't count if at the pub, at festivals or at a club); not a good habit, I admit - I'd like to think one day I'll give up, but I've still got a load of tobacco I bought back from holiday, so that'd be a waste of money

I once gave up for 3 yrs.................back on them for the last 10 yrs or so.......... it goes up and down, my partner gave up 2 1/2 yrs ago and I see the benefits he has, although he still longs for one! He was a fairly heavy smoker, I am down to 5- 10 a day like Jim. (although like Tony R, a night out can add quite a lot to that!!! )
That first one with your first cuppa is great, also after a meal with friends and wine, sat back from the table...........bliss!
I havn't smoked indoors for years, and am now contemplating hypno therapy after many failed quit attempts.
I know it stinks, I know it's not healthy. Most of my daily smokes I don't really enjoy, it's something that I do, but there are one or two a day that I really, really enjoy!
Nasty habit tho, DON'T START!
I have always been active, but I see the difference now, when I am surfing with my buddies, I run out of puff on the paddle long before they do, and that's BAD!

True, very true. I guess that was why the anti-smoking advocates decided to use some of the same tactics. It just really bothers me when anyone makes a claim that is supposed to be backed up by evidence, and in actuality it isn't (ie: the Bush Administration).

I have no clue when it comes to the whole second hand smoke thing...but I pray that it DOSN'T cause much harm. I used to stop and chat everyday with a friend of mine who smoked, there would be wiffs of smoke coming out of my mouth when I spoke. lol

I have smoked since I was 16 an average about 10-15 cigarettes per day. I quit for good on 1 may 2004, after reading (don't laugh at me!) a book called "Easy Way to Quit Smoking" by certain J. Carr. I know, it sounds rediculous, but anyway, I don't and never will smoke again anything (not only tobacco) because it makes me disgust. Used to smoke North State, Lucky Strikes and Chesterfield, quit ten years ago (has few slips few years ago whilst being too drunk). It's a stupid habit, getting a stronger addiction than from most of the drugs, and not even getting the highs or any visions out of it.
